I think how it is proposed at the moment, that lock out only applies to teams that finish within top four including finals series. I know lid off and all that but I don’t see us ending up top four this season or next. If we are serious about Bewick we will likely trade out of 2026 or 2028, or a 2027 first round pick for Merrett should he sook and want another crack at leaving this season. There are options to give us a better chance.
It all sounds pretty complicated but wouldn’t it be better to go into deficit to get Bewick keeping in mind the following draft will be compromise by the introduction of Tassie?

The fact the Devils are allowed access to a clubs f/s is a joke they should be off limits imo
As he should. A rare circumstance where he knows his destination is either Tassie or Essendon 18 months out from his own draft, so due diligence is a good thing.

a player can say no to an approach like Port tied duo Louie Salopek and Zemes Pilot have done so already.
FWIW, if Koby does say no, would that see him slide further down the draft board than where predicted? maybe goes 7 instead of 3. Makes a huge difference to points we’d need

For me I’m against the father son rules completely. You guarantee being able to get 1/18 of these players and cost yourself 17/18. Pretty dumb system to want to be in. Don’t know why anyone likes it
