Disagree. Any normal teams tackles him and its a dead play. No one expected Hind to be that incredibly soft and let him go by that easily. It was a great goal yes but no ruckmen in history has achieved a goal like Sam’s from my memory

Yeah it does. Ruckman are not renowned for their kicking, nor for their goal kicking apart from Madden, and especially not on the run, and never on the outside of the boot.
There’s been many, McKernan, Nik Nat, Gawn, Grundy… That’s just scraping the surface.

Daicos couldn’t kick that goal because will never be the nominated ruckman at a centre bounce.
Daicos will kicks dozens of regulation snaps from that pocket over the course of his career, he’ll probably also break a few more lettuce leaf tackles and kick goals thereafter too. What makes his fish look special is two shocking defensive errors, the conversion itself was nothing out of the box. He’ll it wasn’t even the best goal on the day, that was Elliott’s.
No one has ever done what Draper did to the best of my knowledge, it’s an unprecedented goal and clear goal of the year as a consequence imo

Disagree. I cant recall a ruckmen doing that. I can recall ruckmen tacking the ball from the middle and kicking a goal like
McKernan. Never seen someone grabbing it, hand balling off, getting it back, doing a don’t argue around an opposition player and kicking it check-side for the goal.

Taking the ball clean out of the centre bounce running on, goose stepping, and then slotting a banana. Nah, never ever seen anyone do that. Not even the giant fat kid three stories taller than everyone else in u12s.

Lol that’s pedantic. You could make the same point about every goal ever kicked. The point is, there have been many ruckman kick goals from the ruck contest, many better than Draper’s, which, to be fair, had more than a small element of luck involved. It was a great goal, certainly wasn’t GOTY.
