The fact is that Draper is a 100kg, 200cm tall beast of a human barging through multiple players at top speed towards the goal like a rabid festering dog with the sole intention of putting the ball between the big sticks. Its beautiful and its goal of the year.
I was starting to think Rohan Connelly had hacked your account or you were sitting at home in a filth jumper - or both
OK, off to the Collingwood board to argue why Drapers goal is better then!
Nothing pedantic about it at all? There was 3-4 different skills/efforts required in the one play. Elliott for me is probably GOTY given the circumstance, pressure, mental toughness and high degree of skill involved but thats not a nomination.
Elliot’s last goal versus Carlton was goal of the year. It knocked Carlton out of the 8 with less than 2 min to go. FARK CARLTON.
Everyone saying not goal if the year is wrong and needs to accept that
I can’t agree with the comparisons of other ruckmen’s goals.
In all the other examples, the ruckmen are running unopposed (although some are being chased, some are not) in a straight line and hoof it.
I don’t think there’s a snapshot among them (although there is a drop kick)!
Draper breaks not one, but two tackles.
Takes it out of the ruck, breaks a tackle, clean disposal, runs on and takes the ball clean, breaks another tackle, checkside.
Whether or not it’s better than Daicos, it would seem that there hasn’t been a goal like it from a ruckman in the televised history of V/AFL.
Meh midfielders kicking running goals are dime a dozen. Draper goal for me.
I’ve a distinct memory of Spider burton baulking around a guy with the most exaggerated handball fake in history. Not sure if he slotted it or not.
Give us one example. I can’t think of any that are as good in recent years.
That Joe Daniher one vs Collingwood was pretty good.
Nic Nat got close 7 or 8 years ago. Kicked a point tho.
regardless of whether we think Sammy’s is GOTY - can’t we vote for him anyway just to ■■■■ off the Collingwood supporters?
You could also argue that Draper couldn’t have kicked any of the other goals because he can’t kick on the run from long distance. This was proven by the need to keep running and taking on the second defender.
Fluke LOL.
I know you’re just enjoying being anti.
I think you could say, ‘but what if he missed’ about any goal.
There was a period when Draper was pretty obviously being told not to go for the long bomb.
I have no doubt that we’ll see a running goal from fifty in his career.
There was a massive improvement in his kicking this year. Last year he was lucky to kick even a 30m mongrel whatever.
Having said that, he is no Malcolm Blight

Having said that, he is no Malcolm Blight
I reckon even Sammy could kick a goal from one metre out… unlike Blight.
Ah, @DJR, I thought we had lost you to the AFLW fandom.
