The standard of umpiring is horrendous
My favourite thing I heard watching our game:
“You want your key forward to compete in a contest, even if he is thrown out of the contest. Wether it’s a free kick or not”
so let’s get this straight, you want someone who is being held and “thrown” out of a contest to compete in said contest, even though he is trying, but can’t because he has been “thrown” out of it.
Our key forwards get mauled at every contest. Imagine them getting the Sam Darcy treatment
Not just our forwards.
Remember Matty Gleeson getting thrown out of a marking contest in the goal square against the Swans? Hooker tried doing it the very next week and then the umpire rightly paid a free against him. Sometimes it just comes down to the optics (ie what jumper are you wearing).
I was glad to see the pathetic fan turnout for this game. If the AFL keeps cheating, they will destroy the game, and it would be well deserved. I’m finding it very hard to remain interested in this crap.

On Sunday I saw one umpire position himself between a ball up and the goals, right in the way of 2 players. They don’t understand the game and are standing in the way

The umpires have never done anything wrong and are perfect.

Nearly broke something on this one, most every game you’ll ever watch this year, when umpire has to call stand that third time its 50 without fail. Big AFL directive. Just not for us apparently

Should probably let the umpires take part in the dreamtime ceremony going forwards tbh. Disappointing from the AFL. Maybe give them a special dreamtime guersney too? These blokes are who we really pay to watch after all.
