Blatant cheating by umpires - “having a ‘mare” this century

He didnt change direction he sort of arched to his preferred side like many players do when kicking. The field umpire called play on as soon as he moved and it was the boundary umpire who then immediately called it out of bounds. I have no issue with the call but it happens a lot and nearly
always let go. You see it with players having shots from outside the boundary, the umpire calls play on as soon as they move sideways to allow the defenders to start running at them but often they are still outside the line when the call is made.

Yep they could easily go with the Martin tackle and non HTB decision and say well afl cracked down on this for a few weeks but its over, back to Sydney Rugby rules to suit the Northern states.

Yes, but Geelong so all is good.

I believe “Sensible Umpiring” is the offical AFL-endorsed phrase.

I expect to see plenty of the same this weekend.

How many times commentators say ‘did he get a hand I there?’.

There was easily 20 throws in that game.

Good. ■■■■ them. I glad they are getting riled up at our success.

Welcome to the AFL umpiring group. First game’s Cats versus Backless Bombers

Worst of all is when at 3/4 time and they are given the game stats, if one club is miles behind in free kicks, they even it up as much as they can with soft free kicks, mostly in the backline. The AFL is a joke!

That’s pretty much what Duursma did. I think he was deemed to have gone past the mark. I’ve never seen it written down in a rule, but it seems the umps call it OOB if you run outside the boundary beyond where the mark is. And it’s almost impossible for the kicker to know where the mark is when the defending team opts to go outside 5 and not man the mark.

I’ve always thought the rule was as applied yesterday.

But those umpires who allowed that Cameron kick should be umpiring in Andamooka.

I went off my nana when Caldwell got hit by Yeo after he took a mark not 2 meters away from an umpire. Disgraceful.

Re players running around boundry from frees etc… they do it every week to different degrees. A WC player did it in back pocket 2nd quarter (i was at game, clear as day), so i was livered when we pinned for it at critical moment. Identical but they just make the crap up depending on the vibe at the time. Same with most of the rules. Im surprised players get away with it TBH, but all we ask is be consistent. The HTB adjudication on Sunday was comical. Its become a spilt can of worms that no one knows what the hell to do with. Paper, rock scissors anyone?

Liver transplant?

EFA Nicholls acting like the flog he is.

Enjoyment in the game has genuinely dropped this year due to umpiring

Haven’t they been watching the Dogs, Pies or Swans over the last few seasons?
They’ve perfected the art and I’d always been filthy we’ve not done it, so I say well done Zach.

Duursma played on along the line of the boundary. ie. He never deviated from the direction he started. The replay from directly behind him shows this clearly.
So according to the laws of the game as quoted above by DJR, that shouldn’t be called out of bounds.
Over officiating one of our players yet again is not a surprise.

The free kick for abuse the umpire paid against Jordan Clarke, costing Freo the game against Fark Carlton.

Later on it’s revealed the umpire had no idea what was said, or who it was said to.
