Blatant cheating by umpires - “having a ‘mare” this century

And very importantly when they were paid

Now do the “games lost due to bullshit umpiring” ladder.

We’d do ok, 2 losses 1 win by my count.

No conclusions can be drawn one way or another on who finishes near the top of the free kick differential.

Unless a club has constantly been near the top… like Collingwood.

Go back to the Geelong game…that cheating both destroyed us and reinvigorated Geelong. C Scott even commented about how they got their mojo back in that quarter.

Most games, you can point to a dodgy free at the end of the game and forget the three dodgy frees in the second quarter that every caused or stopped a goal.

I think that was the game where I commented that it was just too obvious to be bad luck.

We got absolutely rinsed that night by the umps, in a way that stood out.

Despite the margin, they cost us that game.

The deliberate rushed against Menzies was the worst on-field decision I think I’ve ever seen. The umpire completely ignored the rules to give it

My 9 year old still talks about that.

I don’t blame them, I’ll be talking about Anzac Day 2019 until I’m dead

Goalpost gate has to be the absolute most farked tho.

Should’ve been a kick from the goal square to win the game.

It was what followed that which was worse. 6-10 bad decisions, either missed obvious frees not paid to us or non-existent frees paid to Geelong.

From memory, the non-free to Draper in our forward pocket kickstarted that run from the umpires

Played a huge role last night in almost getting the Hawks there.

If they were wearing brown and gold would have been amongst the hawks best.

Plus a number of very soft frees each way. Unnecessary involvement.

Hawthorn got 5 of their first 7 goals from frees -

  1. Free to Dear for holding - technically there, but a bit soft.
  2. Chol dangerous tackle - his head did make contact with the ground with his arms pinned. But the tackler did not sling him or cause forceful contact with the ground, just brought him to ground with his arms pinned. If you can’t pin the arms, you allow players to dispose of the ball and tackling becomes relatively useless. Holding the ball was the right call. No dangerous act on the part of the tackler.
  3. Dangerous tackle on Moore, An absolute disaster of a decision. Tackler did no wrong, inadvertent contact with the ground.
  4. Watson literally dived at the tackler with his head and shoulders at knee height, driving into the tackler. High contact caused entirely by Watson’s deliberate attempt to draw a free. I thought we had gone past this rubbish.
  5. Moore gets a feather of contact if at all while bodying with his opponent as the ball is thrown in. Nowhere near enough contact to warrant a free.

I firmly believe, had it not been for that momentum shift caused by a “string of unfortunate events”, Hawks were shot.

So back to business as usual for Hawthorn

It would have nothing at all to do with them having a retired maggot on their board, would it.
