No surprise at all, junk organisation.
They may have changed this recently, who knows, but I know someone who was trying to become an AFL field umpire, but has now given up after years of getting told “Your decision making and running patterns are top notch, AFL standard, but your bouncing isn’t good enough”
They didn’t even prioritize decision making or being in the correct position to see the play unfold as the number 1 traits in umpires. Bouncing the farking ball was number 1
I know it’s a tradition, but umpires shouldn’t need to have a physical skill. They are there to adjudicate.
I agree
Give me the best decision makers every day
So how does the female ump get a gig?
She clearly has her bouncing license
The umpiring in the Adelaide/GWS game was appalling. Clearly favoring Adelaide.
The one that bugged me in Friday was our players being tackled without the ball. Must have happened 3 or 4 times
If AFL had proper HR this wouldn’t have happened.
Nothing on Richmond’s 13 free kicks in a row last night?
The Archie Roberts one was heinous and led directly to a goal - either legit amateur hour or they are just cheats….not sure which is worse
I reckon things are turning slowly, there is a groundswell of opinion in this and we all know the AFL loves to be loved….i reckon they will eventually go to umpire zones so the really good decision makers can umpire again……can’t happen soon enough
Put Brendan Hosking out to pasture… or use another horse analogy, if you’re feeling less kind.
Not least for revealing that the AFL tell the umps what to do through those earpieces… and he STILL got it wrong!
If initially it was a free to gorth then why wasn’t it reversed
Because fark you, that’s why.
Was at the game. 4 umpires and none of them know where to stand. Two in the middle and not one of them was positioned ball side of the stoppage to see all the fucken throws North were getting away with.
Anyway to be honest umpiring is the least of our concerns.
The throwing is ruining the game
I think the umpires communicate to each other through the earpiece but not the AFL themselves. What an absolute ■■■■-up though.
We can go harder than the one you’re referring to.
Not an analogy but why don’t we break his leg so we can shoot him?
