It actually goes really well saw COG there. Was a great night.
Edit: we were on top at the balcony. Sound was pretty good.

Iāll ask.
Didnt know Judas Preist bought out a new album earlier in the year. I must have been asleep at the wheel.
Had a listen and its pretty bloody good!!
Anyone else going to Iron Maiden this weekend?
Iāve built the set as a playlist in spotify. Itās bloody jarring going from their classic tracks to the ones from the last album. Such a dull, lifeless album is Senjutsu
Yep, Iām heading along to both nights. I suspect this will be their last tour here.
Totally agree about the variance in their tunes.
Yeah, fair chance itās their last time, but their energy does defy their age. Iām looking forward to seeing Alexander the Great live
The new songs were better than expected in concert. Maybe the production on the album contributed to them sounding so flat. Canāt comment on death of the celts though, used that track for a ā ā ā ā and beer refresh
Interesting crowd. All ages present. Saw dads and mums with kids, a 70 yo lady, just such a wide variety of people
They nailed the second half. Adrian Smith on form with his solos. Iām not sure Janick is plugged in half the time. Bruce still sounds good. UP THE IRONS
Loved the concerts. I went to last night and tonight, effectively understanding that they are unlikely to come back due to their ages.
The live versions are so much better than the studio stuff.
Thought it was a great show!! Albeit McBrain noticeably slowing down compared to the othersā¦
I went the first night. Thought they were great. Also saw Steveās āother bandā - British Lion - at Croxton Bandroom the night before. Good band.
This was my 6th Maiden tour. First was The World Slavery Tour at Festival Hall, back in 1985. Iāve been following 'em since i was 13 years old.
Spose you could say iām a āfan boyā.
A band I used to really get into as a teenage angst-ridden youth was Overkill. Iāve listened to very little heavy music in the last few decades but will often throw on the headphones while doing the dishes etc. and listen to a few classics from back in the day.
Overkillās Horrorscope still holds up as a thrash classic as it progressed slightly from the straight-up thrash sound of the 80s to have a bit more groove or doom elements and really rumbles along fluidly with two lead guitarists playing off each other.
So I decided to give their newer stuff a go and I have to say that they deserve to be placed alongside Metallica, and Slayer as the best 3 thrash bands of all time. They have a huge discography and on listening to their most recent album, Scorched, Iām most impressed by how sharp and energised they sound and the vocalist Ellsworth has never sounded better. Their lyrics have never really been that great but they still give menace to the sound. And while I wonāt listen to them much in the future I thought Iād see if anyone else has followed their 5 decade journey.
He did have a stroke ~12 months ago.
Impressive heās even drumming at all.
Horrorscope was a damn good album!
Re: Overkill, you can probably skip most of the 90s and 00s stuff, but from Ironbound onwards theyāve been producing albums at a pretty high level
Unlike many early fans I didnāt mind the direction they went with I Hear Black with its almost complete shift toward groove metal. It was a tough follow up to Horrorscope but I liked the fact that they didnāt try to recreate it. WFO was awful howeverā¦ The production was terrible and the songs unmemorable and that was it for me until rediscovering their later albums just recently.
Every song is a banger. Coma hits you between the eyes straight up. Live Young Die Free is melodically on point for a thrash band. Nice Day for a Funeral is menacing. Solitude is close to the best chill songs in the genre. And the title song is a masterpiece.
