Yeap, have learnt that one the hard way. Won't be continuous, that's for sure.
Rookie question: aside from mates and group rides, where do you guys get ideas for rides from?

Had intentions of designing a fake "Team ProBanana" logo, too and everything...
Well you have 4 clothing items covered (jersey/bibs), just need the other 6 takers.

Mostly Strava, seeing where others ride and wanting to explore it myself.
Thats my I love my Garmin 800, create route, load up and follow it, never get lost!
Yeah just hearing about climbs and loops from other riders. There’s not a bunch of variety around here. Also just by riding where the family is going to be later that day anyway!

Cool, ta. I'm saving for an 810 so I'll be able to do that myself. Only been in Melbourne 2 years, so I'm still learning my way around... and what better way than on a bike

Strava for sure. Look where you ride. Use heat maps to see where people ride off to from where you ride, build out your routes as you go.
I'd suggest an "easy" 100 to start with. Ride to Frankston and back via Beach Rd. The stretch from Modi to Frankston is quite boring, but it won't kill you.
There will a lot of other cyclists doing the same so you won't get lonely.
Definitely check out the heat maps, they are a good indication of routes well worn by other cyclists i.e safe.
Cinelli Chrome Kit ordered :D
Yeah I was thinking of Frankston and back on Beach Road, but there's some other ideas too. All depends on how late I stay up after we win on Saturday night :)
Kinglake if you want a challenge.
Probably through Hustbridge for you. Or out to Sugarloaf (has less climbing).
But as a warning the magpies are absolutely mongrels at the moment.
Thanks for the tips lads. I always forget about the Heatmap on Strava.
I also found http://theclimbingcyclist.com/ and that's given me a few ideas for rides that will get me started on climbing.

Yeh, some top climbs there to try.
Yep, the 1 in 20 is calling my name
TDU FLIGHTS BOOKED
Question as to what your plans are. From memory you have friends in Adelaide. Are you planning to stay with them for the whole TDU? Are you taking your bike? Are you planning to ride to stages, or drive, or book the organised bus links (I think these go to the start then the finish).
I am doing some research as I think Tourism SA should be doing more to support travelers to the stages who aren't based in Adelaide. Last year I was really surprised how few people there were moving with the stages (like they do in the TDF or Giro) but instead it is all a hub and spoke setup with Adelaide as the hub.
Taking bike. Will do the Bupa ride. Will be staying with family.
Last year cyclingtips.com.au had group rides every day, I’ll probably just follow them.
G4T, be safe going down Glorious, you couldn’t pay me to descend that!
Life cycle of a cyclist ...

Actually this is just part one. Then all the other bits go and the bikes come back !
Had to cut the ride short at 30km this morning, the guts decided to not play nice so I came home when I was close.
Looking outside now I’m tempted to kit up and have a slow roll around though. It’s beautiful
It was very nice out first thing this morning. Had a shorter ride than usual ride, fathers day ...

Didn't eventuate grrrr!
Only a mate and I turned up, everyone opted for the softer 100km ride, disgruntled - we joined that ride too :/ Still rounded out the day with a grand fondle 130 though.
But plan to resched it for a few weeks time, invite only for those who are not afraid of a little cement intake.
How was yours?
