Blitz Probe Cycling

Been wanting to try the track out, will try and gather a crew, bit of a drive the only hurdle.

Come ornnnnnn it’s 90 minutes.

Though the track is ALL that way over the other side of town for me. That’s 10 minutes by bike!

On wiggle… DHB have some really neat designed kits out atm, like.

Have been wearing DHB winter kit this year and it’s really very good.

Some messing around this arvo with the idea of a kit for advertising...

Looks good.

Yes I just came to post link to that.

As I have said before I got the tool kit and stand last year they've worked out well - especially for the money.  I also bought couple of shorts, they are good to have as a spare pair when others are in wash.  Good for commuting / 50k - wouldn't plan a high speed ton in them.

Time to come clean Riolio ..  with all those chevrons you've obviously been lurking on Pinterest.

Nope! But the navy/lime one is a bit of a rip off of Matrix Vulpine’s Jersey.

Just back from a ride where I was confronted by the following scene; a family out for a Sunday ride, 6 bikes, Mum, Dad, 4 kids ranging from preschool to about year 7, 5 helmets and one snazzy leather driving cap. Guess who was wearing the cap? I see variations of the same tableau nearly everytime I go riding, and it's always the dads who are helmetless.

Seems to me there are a few messages being sent here; to the kids, especially the boys who probably still see their dad as an incarnation of a god, it's that safety and masculinity don't mix and to me it's that Dad is a feeble minded irresponsible fark knuckle. Now I don't use those words but I do tend to remind Dad politely that he forgot his helmet. Wonder how many of the primary school kids I see riding to school with their helmets dangling from the handlebars have dads like the bloke I saw today?

I should note that my views are intensified by the fact that my niece was rendered unconscious by a hit and run driver when she was 10 and the doctor speculated that the only thing that saved her from serious injury or worse was her helmet.

I don't think laws are the answer, they're being ignored now, but I wouldn't mind a media campaign, you know, "Wear your helmet wimp!" with famous macho hero types proudly sporting the correct head gear as they take junior for a ride, because if there is one group as impressionable as school age boys it's their ■■■■■■ dads.

A lot of debate on the "helmet optional" topic. I personally do not see it as an option at all, no more so than seat belts or harnesses when working at heights. The choice is ultimately with the individual, but imo the cost is just too high. Would never leave home without my lid.

The father in your story really is setting a terrible example and frankly should know better. And have a greater consideration for the safety of his children.

Saw a couiple of fark knuckles without helmets with their kids today as well. Both mum and dad had no helmets, you have to wonder what goes through their feeble minds? I guess not much.

If you want to ride without a helmet, do it without your kids dickheads.

It’s the kids with helmets on but not done up that gets me. Are you so cool you can’t do up a buckle?

Worst is the people who are safety conscious enough to buy a helmet & nerdy enough to always have it with them... dangling off the handlebars.

If I was a cop I'd stop & fine every single one of them. For some reason I'm not all that fussed by people who just don't have a helmet at all, but the having it & not using it (properly) really irks me.

GoPro coming out with cheaper $129 camera.  Expect that this will be pretty popular with commuters and other cyclists.  Just what I need on helmet to record those magpie attacks.

I also bought a Magellan GPS unit to help find my way around.  Handlebars starting to look like Phillipino taxi.

Meh, the fly6 is good enough for me - at least there will be photographic evidence of the ■■■■■■■ that tries to kill me.

Wonder if they are coming up with a front light version.

^ Yes. Trying to find a link, but think it's to be called the Fly12...

Yeh found this.

A lot of action occurs in front of us as well whether that‘s out on the road or on the trails. Will we see a front mounted Fly unit?
Yes, we are designing Fly12 at the moment and while I can say we are very happy with Fly6, Fly12 is going to a whole new level. We have new designers that have taken the aesthetics to a whole new level and the features will be off the hook!! We can‘t say much more than that as it is very early days but we hope to be able to reveal more towards the end of the year.

Breaking my BlitzVacation to post this link and ask you bastards to chuck me a few bucks. If I crack $500 I'll ride 1000km in October (I've not ridden any further than 175km in a week yet)
