It’s hard to blame Brad Scott when we kick so insanely badly for goal.

Despite all the hurt and angst, I think he’s a good coach and has got us playing a better brand of footy, when the players actually stick to the plan.

Execution in front of goal is footy 101 and we absolutely suck at it. The only thing I’d like to see Brad do which he isn’t doing, is insist on a favourable shots-on-goal average, before any forward is considered available for selection.

It’s soooo obvious if you look back at games through the season. If our goal-kicking had been even just serviceable we make finals, probably top 4.

The stat that we have been bottom 4 for inside 50s most of the past decade turning into this year being top 4 is very important and shows a big improvement. It shows we can get it in there, but not convert and do not create enough turnovers for goals.

What does this tell us and what do you notice with the hawks and giants who are flying at the moment? Small forwards converting opportunities and their inside 50 pressure is what is lacking from this team. It’s why I’d be considering going berry along with kako in this year’s draft. Address our biggest need in one hit when we have been luckily kissed on the ■■■■ by the AFL, with effectively getting an extra first round pick for nothing.

Funnily enough, when the small forward pressure improves, our defence won’t look as ■■■■ either.

I’m still unclear on Scott saying they’re improving “but so is the rest of the competition”.

So what are you going to do to improve ahead of the competition, Brad? Or are you suggesting a constant pattern of tight, close games?

How have the Hawks been able to turn it around so quickly??

I wouldn’t say they’re any more skilled than our list. But mentally, they do seem stronger. Mind you, they’ve had a few chokes but at least they take their chances and continue to do so.

The rest of the competition has improved hey Brad?? So Collingwood have improved this year? Richmond? Carlton? Melbourne? Adelaide? St Kilda?

Well Geelong, Hawthorn, Fremantle and WB weren’t finalists last year and they are this year… easy to show the other side of what you’re saying. Where there are improvers there are declines too…

Well it’s one of the closest seasons we’ve ever seen isnt it? Swans (top spot) literally just guaranteed being in finals with their win on Friday night…

The last qtr, we were able to keep the ball in our half due to inaccurate kicking.

We all know if one of them went through and we led by 9 points that GC would’ve won a centre clearance and kicked a goal to get the margin back.

The narrative of “we don’t play a style that allows us to run up a score” that this coach told us in a press conference is just one more stupid example of failing at coaching.

The players are mentally weak, and this coach might be mentally tough but he has no understanding of what a coach should be telling his team.

Didn’t Yze get interviewed twice? I seem to recall him talking about it? Hird only the once I believe. Yze was pretty close and it was between him and Scott.
