The club couldnt do much if they are happy to stay and had no intentions of leaving.
Out of interest, does letting Daniher go count?
Does trading Saad count?
If we have poor drafting and development (and Iâll add injury prevention), then obviously, we wouldnât be trading the good players we do have for another shot at that poor drafting and development cycle that we go through.
I think risk averse list management is a fair assessment for what weâve been doing for quite some time. And to be fair, I probably wouldnât try to take major risks (like Hawthorn do) because itâs likely we canât handle the drop internally and rebound out of it.
Itâs great to say, just bottom out, collect draft picks / talent and wait it all out, itâs tougher to actually do. Unless you have the right people at the club to steer us out of it. A lot of people point to Richmond and they werenât too far away from board upheaval (which would have also changed coach & football department direction) prior to going on their premiership run. We not close to that level, but the feeling from the members is very similar. Theyâve now made major changes to their leadership / football department and clearly tanked for draft picks. Whether they have the right people around to bounce out of it will only be known in 3 to 4 years time.
I donât think we have the right people in place at the club, but more importantly, I donât think we the right people waiting in the wings outside the club willing to overthrow the board and change the direction of the club. Itâll take them another few years to sort stuff through as that change actually occurs and another few years before it bears fruit.
I donât think we have the risk appetite to tear things down now. That may change this year and maybe even next year before doing a more aggressive tear down.
No worries. As I said though, club wasnât supporting the footy dept and focussed on addressing culture and systemic issues so Rutten ultimately departed as expected under those conditions.
I warmed a lot to the idea of Ross coaching us.
He put lines through Billings, Crouch and Gresham pretty quickly and has developed a good game style at the saints (with a very limited list)
I imagine Ross wouldnât have played Stringer much if he was our coach
Yeah 3 players
Blitz wants the entier list sacked
Poor Scott said he needed time to assess the list. Ross made moves after a year
nobody wants that Nino, no matter how many times you say it
Sure feels that way tho unless its on a dramatic scale like Richmond no one will be happy no matter what the club does
Not to defend Nino, but Iâve definitely seen it. Posts after posts of people begging for change, clean out the veterans, get rid of the current batch of losers, start from the beginning, trade anyone worth anything.
Some definitely want the entire list changed over.
Did he? Look at some of the absolute shizen on their list still
Zak Jones
Dougal Howard
Ryan Byrnes
all given new deals
Worst list than ours
we didnât âlet daniher goâ we held him to his contract and in the process cost ourselves better compensation, and wasted a year of his and our time.
No, it really doesnât.
Do we know what the compensation was going to be from Sydney? Maybe it might have turned out to be similar compensation. I believe they were also hoping at the time to get him to reconsider.
Actually considering some of the blitz comments it really does. Youâve got people begging the club to trade guys who are good who barely got in here because we can get draft picks for them, like any good club would do that.
Letâs face it, most people have no clue how any of this works no matter how often they read posts explaining the mechanics of list building, trade rules or whatever.
Ross is over rated to buggery.
And ended up exchanging him to go back into a cycle of poor drafting and development.
Which brought nothing. Just more things to complain about.
What makes you think itâll be different if we traded a few of our top 10 best players?
Weâd just get shiny new toys that we struggle to develop. Or keep on the park.
Iâm all for turfing out experienced players.
Itâll change things. Whether it is for the better or worse wonât be know for some time.
But itâll feel good for a few years. Until we realise weâre not progressing and making poor drafting decisions. Then weâd want to burn it all down again and start afresh. Because it canât get any worse.
nope
A lot of people want the club to take a clear direction, and have wanted that for a long time.Scott has effectively wasted 2 years at the helm so far. There was nothing he learnt in year 2, that already wasnât completely evident by the end of year 1.
Last year was an unmitigated failure on every single level
Nobody wants the whole playing list gutted, people want to see the hard calls to be made
Senior players who have shown time and again that they arenât up to the level required to be axed
To fully back in the youth
Thatâs what the majority want to see
Isnt our listed rated as one of the youngest in 2025?
Also we drafted 7 players last year and we will hit the draft again this year if thats not bringing youth in then i dont know what is.
People are sick of the club hedging their bets each way for the last 20 years.
Weâre rebuilding and trying to win a final at the same time.
Itâs either one or the other.
Doing both does not work
Then they were screaming for midfielders and took two half backs
