Brad Scott - yeah, whatever (Part 4)

It’s interesting you mention this, because that’s what others with a younger list have done. Now he may argue that he has a better vantage point up in the box to see where the structure is breaking down, but I’m sure one of his assistants could assist with that part.

Yeah but it’s boring, bring on some turmoil, we haven’t had any for a while :winking_face_with_tongue:

He didn’t even do it when he lost comms on ANZAC Day. Recent premiership coaches like Fagan and Macrae aren’t above it, but who cares what successful coaches do.

Fired Dodoro

Hired a guy who had built a successful list at a wafl club from the dirt in 3 years.

We hadn’t tried that in two decades.

The list bosses at all the best clubs have been pretty well regarded.

its also how most other field sports across the world do it

That’s rubbish. They knew they had a good coach and they realised they had to stay the course to succeed. Geelong and Richmond are good examples of seeing through difficult periods when the mob are baying for blood only to stick fat and committed to the plan.

Chris Scott doesn’t coach from the dugout either. I doubt Lyon or Longmire ever have. This is a good point because it does identify something different about these types of coaches compared to Fagan & McCrae.

Maybe a bit more aloof, more authoritarian, establish a clear line between coach and players. I’m your boss not your friend.

Maybe if the coach sees their main role as strategist, they sit up top, and if they see themselves as communicator and relationship builder they coach from the sidelines.

Why on Earth would you back either of them with anything to do with EFC?

Not really correct.
Cats got very, very close to sacking Bomber, the board was split on it. A compromise was reached which kept him but made a lot of changes in their setup.

Tigers were sure about Dimma, that part is correct, but they felt he needed better assistants to support the areas he was weak in so they made wholesale changes.

But both clubs knew that their lists were basically good enough, on the whole, to be successful, just a few tweaks were needed.

Our list as a whole is poor and our coaches seem to be poor and don’t really cover Scott’s weaknesses.

Scarlett mentions it in his book and also on Open Mike iirc.

Rutten got accused from coaching on the bench so the club sent him back to the box.

Now people want to send Brad to the bench

Parish would fit st Kilda
Redman - Adelaide
McGrath - north

Realistically though who cares send them to the highest bidder

Scott won’t be sacked. We have to put up with him for a few more years - but - don’t expect any success in the time he is here because that is not going to happen. Possibly only one finals win in his time but even that is a long shot. This club has made it’s nest and now they have to lie in it.

He knows how to play the political game.

One finals win is being a little optimistic with scott isn’t it? Personally we are not going to be playing any finals under him, not this year, and if he coaches us again in 2026, he will be sacked during the season due to more poor losses.

Here’s an accurate explanation of Essendon’s gameplan for you

That’s not where most want to send Brad

What happened to 2022 Ruthless against the Senior Coach Nino?

Is this Nino calling for the sacking of a coach only 18 months into the position?
No it couldn’t be? I don’t believe it.

Ouch, Nino thinks no coach survives when the L’s stack up.
Let’s check back in a few months for an update.

Ruthless about applying pressure and defending? Where has that been for 2 and a half years? And holding players accountable if they don’t? Damn, I liked your hopes and ambitions.

Is this Nino saying he wanted Hird back in 2022?
Even though he now claims every 5 seconds that if Brad goes we would just bring Hird in and it would be terrible and how dare anyone suggest anything of the like?

Wait, is this Nino placing responsibility on the coach after the 2022 loss to Richmond by 71 points.

This cannot be Nino wanting another coach? Surely not. My eyes must be deceiving me.

There is only so much hypocrisy and grandstanding that one can read each and every day in this thread.
