Thats not a game plan, that execution

I mean you would have seen it too. I only went to 3 match sims, but I can see they clearly want to move the ball quicker and more instinctively. Didnt have the cattle too last year. Its now a lot about cohesion and continuity of 80% of the same group for me. May take a few years to really gel.

Ben King and Zac Bailey should be our main targets time to splash the cash

Don’t give a stuff if you play fast or slow, if you prefer breaking lines with run or moving the ball by foot, if you turn the ball over with regularity you’re screwed. Very hard to defend against live ball turnovers.

We are a Nas level player away from jumping up 6-8 spots on the ladder, maybe Robey is that player?

I think this is a good summary. They’ve recruited well the last 3 years (23/24/25). Development from here is crucial. I’m not convinced they’re optimising development yet.

For example, Caddy spent most of last week still running under the ball and being played easily at times by his opponent. Who’s the legit key forward coach developing him? I mean a genuine key forward who knows the craft (not a small forward or x midfielder now coaching forwards? I think he had Reiwvolt as a mentor, hope this is still ongoing…

I’m also led to believe they’re still not fully resourced in the development area…

Regards to Scott, I suspect this will possibly be his final year. He’s been a strong person for the times. A pragmatic, sensible and experienced hand to guide a club rebuilding. I just don’t think he’s technically sound enough and I still have concerns regarding his relationships with players. I might be alone here but I actually thought that great ā€˜day in the life’ video recently did him in in this way. I thought it presented a very serious, almost anxious environment that to me showed his limitations in creating a fun, relaxed and open environment. Of course that’s a big call and it’s based on a tiny section but it did reinforce my views on our coach. It just didn’t feel right somehow (hard to explain!).

Time will tell.

Do you have that template on save or something, I reckon every thread you comment on is that exact line expect replace Kelly with X

Agree. Time to spend big on a gun big forward!

nah just a general observation every coach that the club has hired the fan base wants them gone

Unless the next coach can come in and have us playing like a top side in his first year he will cop it

A coach who has selection integrity and a game plan would be nice.

Yes, Scott ā€œtalksā€ a good game, ā€œunderstandsā€ the machinations of a well structured, strong program that delivers success.

At interview he would’ve done a convincing sell given his firsthand access to all clubs prior.

But on the evidence to date, his role as coach has been a failure. 4 years to establish a defensive profile… x, establish an identity (game plan)… x. 2024 debunks the notion of injury derailing seasons after the bye. Abysmal what happened then. Selection integrity undermining progress.

Yes, he’s overseeing the regeneration of the list. That’s a positive for sure.

Problem is, Scott appears to lack the persona / communication style, game day smarts to drive the group beyond the chronic funk that’s stalled this club for a generation.

Not according to the players they all seem to love him and buying Into what he’s trying to teach/sell

Was it Nguyen that sad Brad has an aurora about him

Rookies would talk glowingly of the coach not having been in such a professional environment before.

When he talks, Scott is monotone with little to no emotion, all facts and figures.

Hearing Battle talk the other day about the State game saying that C Scott was matter of fact but G Lyon was the person who fired them up… wanting to play and win for him.

Essendon’s coach might garner respect, but don’t think he inspires. Whatever % that element of coaching is, Scott does not have the required level.

At end of the day if the players are behind the coach then that’s all that matters to me

You do realise, players default is to say they’re behind the coach. That said, results and the manner in which the team play will provide the answer

It’s a very brave player to come out and say they don’t back the senior coach while they are still selecting teams.

Inside the four walls they seem to be united and connected

Fiona from Bomber Banter mentioned that this is the most engaged and connected she’s seen the group in wanting to get better everyone seems to be on the same page.
