Brad Scott - yeah, whatever (Part 4)

This made me think how Cale Hooker would be a great get for a developmental role. Extremely great at positioning both forward and back.

I admire Pops Kelly as much as any of that great cats dynasty, but he did think Kobe Mutch was the next big thing.

Like drafting, picking next great young coach is a lottery. Agree with earlier poster who liked what Kingsley has done At GWS.

It would be a very game player to criticise a coach. Very career ending.

Which is why it makes sense to give Scott another 12-18 months. He takes the flak for our poor results, when it’s looking like turning someone new takes over.

Scott isn’t going to coach us to our next flag but he serves an important purpose - taking the flak and the heat while the team is bad, while rebuilding the football department infrastructure

I watched his most recent interview and I maintain my opinion that he would make a fantastic GM for a footy club.

He is so well spoken and seems to understand alot about the industry.

I just recon he cannot coach tactically or get his message across to players. That and his selection integrity are his two issues.

Easier to stab them in the back

Yep, good point.

tis pretty easy to be upbeat in march, as you allude to as all you have is inside the 4 walls noise and metrics to compare yourself against, and considering the clubs poor history, comparing themselves to themselves doesn’t necessarily result in objective measuring of where the club actually sits compared to 17, soon to be 18 other clubs.

and really the only metric you have at this time of year, is fitness based and every year on cue the players are always stating it’s the hardest pre season they’ve ever done.

I imagine this time last year they were upbeat too, doubt that it looked that way around may/june.

I think 12th this year

That’s nearly finals and nearly last.

A Kingsley type would break about 30% of our list after the very first spray. Bring it on.

Finished 15th in 2025

We finish 12th this year would that not be called improvement?

making the 8 (1) and winning a final (2) would be an improvement, nothing less than these 2 will save scott, by mid season we will have some idea whether he is going to be sacked before the end of the year, or will coach the team in 2027.

They did with Scott

Your expectations are too high for a rebuilding side Welsh said it’s going to be a tough year.

For where the team is at in its rebuild finishing just outside the top 10 would be a pass mark imo.

lol so the club that plays absolute plodder senior players like prior 2mp langford redman over youth doesn’t expect to make finals. #swagger

Give Brad another 3 years then??

“We’re in a “rebuild” we need “stability” the last 3 years weren’t really fair on Brad, dealing with Dodoro and Injuries. He deserves another extension”

You said it.

Personally I wouldn’t be against giving Brad another year or two 2028 or 2029 is when expectations and contending should be put on the club imo

Do you expect us to play finals?

I expect your lover to be sacked by the bye for not getting enough out of the list.
