Breaking Bad Finale - spoilers

This thread is about breaking bad, not your sex life

Disappointing i thought. Spoilers

Yeah it was nice to have closure for jesse but the heavy reliance on flashbacks to create the story made it all feel contrived. Also those welders… a bit more backstory on why those were bad guys needed. Not sure how i feel about jesse killing those dude either, he hates killing

They may not need them, but they use them all the time in BCS, not even considering the fact that the show runs on two different timelines.

I liked it. I didn’t love it, but I genuinely enjoyed spending time with Jessie again.

As as been mentioned… There wasn’t a lot of point to it, and it kind of just played like an extended epilogue after the credits of BB, but I didn’t mind that.

Fat Damon just looked far too different, though. It was a strange decision to spend so much flashback time with him. (Although that scene where they dropped the body in the rug from the balcony and it just went THUD… That was classic BB dark humour)

The welders could have been fleshed out a bit, given a bit more reason to dislike them.

But overall, I’m glad they made it… Geez it was shot well.

Agree with all of that, especially the epilogue part.
To me it was fan service as opposed to fan pandering.
The ‘story so far’ prologue was brilliant. Brought me right back into it and made me think, ‘how did I ever and how do some still see WW as a hero of any sort?’

He’s just so well written. Even though you hated him by the end (or from pretty damn early for some people), you never stopped barracking for him to come out on top.

Yep sorry the flashbacks in Better Call help to make the story. I felt with the movie they already had the entire series to use as reference points.

I needed the flashbacks, I watched the series a long time ago and tbh cant remember lots of things.

Fat Damon did not bring joy, but I get he was integral to Jesse’s whole story.
The other cameos were very welcome.

Fat Damon is the contrast.

Why does Jesse deserve any happy ending at all?

Because he’s not Fat Damon.

The callous unneeded killing without empathy of the cleaner and of the kid, allows you to cheer for Jesse even though objectively he’s the same murdering drug dealing scumbag.

If we’re not doing spoilers…because the thread does say spoilers…

Jesse has been trying to get out for a long, long time.
He tried to get out so much he threw all the money away.

He didn’t start the stand off. He was just trying to get out.
He asked the welder nicely.
He asked the fixer nicely.
This was the story of Jesse finally getting out. As Mike said, not making it right, just getting out.

And I’m so glad he didn’t cook again.
I’m so glad they didn’t turn him into a sociopath because he was never that.
Although I do feel that some fans would have wanted that.
To me, this was the right ending of that part of the story.
It was true.

I thought it was great, just hanging out with Jesse and those guys again.

Will watch it again.

I did not even know about the movie. Only found out about it from this thread (was wondering why a breaking bad thread was being commented on again). Added it to my list and will watch it tonight.

Just finished with it.

In isolation you wonder what the point of it was. But as a continuation to that universe I’m so glad it exists. Finally puts a full stop on Jesse’s story in lieu of an ellipses.

Time to watch the series again.

So punchable

That driving scene and the time lapse in the apartment were the two scenes which they nailed. Classic BB style.

I was underwhelmed.

And I’m sorry, but not having Fat Damon slim down for this role is just lazy, lazy film-making. You can’t have flashbacks where the character is 84 Tonnes heavier than he was at that point in time. It changed his character.

Skinny Pete was a highlight. That’s about it.

Oh, and Jesse’s reaction after the cleaning lady burial where Fat Damon asks “do you want to say a few words”… Classic Jesse.

Honestly took me a long, long time to get over Plemons being fatter. I’d just rewatched the whole series so jumping straight into the movie it really put me out seeing such a huge difference. Seems small but when you have so much movie time with him it was just bizarre.
