Camping

I much prefer staying in a hotel/motel. I’d even stay at a B&B although the idea of staying at a stranger’s house with them in it is a little weird. But there is something about staying outdoors that kids really love.

Safety (health) > Shelter (warmth) > Water > Food > Entertainment

Prioritise from the left, make lists for each, simplify things, cull down to fit in transport, include back ups/alternatives for vitals, test beforehand, consider worst case scenarios, ensure someone back at home knows exactly where you are going, and what your schedule is - and if you’re the one in charge of kids - you don’t get drunk.

I’m a hotel/motel man myself.
But would rather go camping than do the b&b thing.
With you all the way on the weird thing.
Done it once, and although the house was beautiful, I avoided the funny farm level happy host like the plague.

You seem like a very sensible individual.

Actually, I’m a half-witted, knee-jerking, reactionary idealist, but hey - kids are precious

Or make out with someone in your tent and forget to close the flap… The kids had all sorts of interesting stories after a camping trip with their aunty a few years back.

My friends old man runs a pretty successful B&B out of his property in
Lilydale
He’s a builder by trade so built himself a second house on the block and rents it out as a B&B
Even had Ablett Jnr stay there for his wedding

We have thought about putting some cabins on to our property and renting them out like a B&B. As we are located next to the Border Ranges National Park there are a lot of visitors so we want to get some of that action!

Just need to save up the dollars to make it worthwhile.

It’s not us that forgot to close the flap “Uncle Pauly”

lol.

The pros V cons as I see it;

Caravan park:
Pro: Has power, water, camp kitchen (maybe), bbq(s), shtter
Cons: Maybe next to d
ckheads that get blind then punch on or have sex with the flap open

Remote campsite
Pro: Away from dckheads that get blind the punch on or root next door, wilderness is nice
Cons: drop sh
tter or no sh*tter at all, no, power water or cooking facilities. Ivan Milat type characters may be lurking in bush near by

A caravan park isn’t real camping Digs.

Go on an enjoyable holiday and resign yourself to being one of the first to die in an apocalypse like event.

Here’s how I camp:

Take board games and be somewhere close to a town so YOU can sneak out at night for a beer or 2…

I love camping as long as there are places I can wander to like a pub or some sight seeing. My mate goes to the same place (Tocumal spl?) and all he does is sit there all day, every day, and drink alcohol). I’m all for relaxing but that made every day feel like eternity. Wife and I just left and went to neighbouring places like the strawberry farm to do things.

Dont be one of the guys who just buys battery powered electronic devices or you might as well stay home. I’ve seen families with generator/battery powered televisions… WTF?! Get into nature and enjoy the outdoors and quiet. Go fishing if there is water nearby.
