This is a hybrid cars/music/technology/dumb questions/what annoys you post.
I bought a 2017 Mazda CX5 recently (it’s great!) and of course, like most recent vehicles, it doesn’t have a CD player. Seeing as I don’t have a smart phone or any bluetooth device, the solution was to copy 100 of my favourite albums onto a flash drive.
The thing that bugs me is that, despite selecting “shuffle” on the screen, the system will often just play several consecutive songs from the same album rather than randomly selecting tunes from different albums. Further, it seems to pick tracks from the same bloody albums all the time and leaves 80% of the stuff I’ve loaded up not getting a run.
Any ideas/solutions/suggestions for fixing this annoying issue?
There probably is a Youtube video on how to fix.
But a simple solution would be to just make up a couple more USB’s with less songs on them and more specific genre. Then just rotate the USB depending on your mood, and would be similar to having 100 CD’s, but rather 5 USB.
Rock / Pop/Classic/ Country/etc
or get a smart phone

Few things to check.
- File type of the songs - are these all the same? eg: .mp3
- Selecting all songs through the on screen menu.
a. Sounds like you have multiple folders, might not be cycling through these.
Possible solution assuming its a folder issue and not shuffling through. Open all songs first, then play/shuffle.

This is how mine works.
If you’re at the folder which contains all your music (library), it shuffle everything.
If you’re at the next level down (band) it’ll just shuffle that bamd.
Then next level down is (album) and you’ll only get a shuffle of that album.
Sounds like you need a six stacker cd player conveniently stored in your boot.

Thank you all for your useful advice.
After checking that the file types are all the same and reside in the one folder and that “song” is the selected option, I also tried the most obvious thing and removed the USB stick, turned everything off and then back on again and re-inserted the USB. Works perfectly now!

Yeah…sucks to be you.
For a start, it resets apps which may have memory leakages which distort the functionality of the app.
And second, Roy in the IT Crowd says that’s what you do.
Not trying to be a smartarse…. But what phone do you have?
With music isn’t it just easier to use Spotify? I mean yeah I get the monthly fee, but there’s SO much music and playlists to go through.(or make yourself and share)
Surely you would use that in a car over a CD or a USB of mp3s?
An old one with buttons that makes and receives phonecalls and texts. I don’t have the need for anything more sophisticated than that.
How would you play music from Spotify in the car without a smart phone?

Drove the Volvo C40 Recharge single motor EV today.
The absolute best thing about it? It does everything that a conventional ICE car does. Looks, moves, buttons, performance. They have a dual engine variant which is really quite fast.
Really liked it, but holding out a bit longer. I don’t like that it’s FWD, has a glass roof, and not really enough room in the boot.
But if you want to go EV, but don’t want to have to overthink it. This is the best EV I’ve driven that is probably exactly the same as their pet rial variant.
