Loved him Poisdion Adventure and of course as Lex Luther

Well he isn’t Robinson Crusoe.

His Popeye Doyle character remains one of the all time great portrayals of a cop, in both French Connections. For all that l love The Conversation just as much as a movie. He was an unfashionable sort, but hung there with a string of memorable performances such as the above mentioned, and Unforgiven.

Uncredited, and quite improvised- brilliant

And brought a sense of menace to some of his roles. Some Hollywood “tough guys” do seem a little forced, Hackman was one of the few that were genuinely unsettling and realistic. He was one of the few screen giants of my time.

1 of 3 dogs
So it looks like accidental death

Gene Hackman had incredible range as an actor. Drama, comedy, action adventure. Iconic.

Loved this guy and his acting.
Just happened I went searching for and watched this classic again only a few weeks ago. Him and Roy Scheider were a good pair … loved those Marseilles settings in a French gritty yesteryear. Won him the Oscar

Sad news indeed this. RIP Gene and wife Betsy…
