Tim Brooke Taylor
Ahhh, bastard.
He was a a Goodie.
Noooooooo!
Not liking the post but acknowledging it. What a sad way for him to go.
He was in the radio show Iâm Sorry Iâll Read That Again too with The other Goodies, John Cleese and Jo Kendall too.
Puns galore!
Was watching Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory last night, and he had a small role creating a computer that would locate the remaining golden tickets.
The Goodies was standard evening viewing as a kid (followed by Dr Who).
Slightly OT but was hilarious seeing that town in the UK that has a Dalek roaming up and down the streets warning people to stay inside and avoid the Coronavirus
Ah man⌠fark this covid-19. First Adam Schlensinger, now Tim Brooke-TaylorâŚ
The Goodies and Dr Who were standard after school viewing.
RIPâŚ
l saw him race. It was at the 1956 Australian Tourist Trophy for sports cars at Albert Park Lake. He led from start to finish in a beautiful little red Maserati 300S. In those days they raced in the opposite direction to now. In the mid 80âs the same car came up for sale at a classic car auction, over the the Royal Childrenâs Hospital. World F1 Champion Alan
Jones was the guest acutioneer. The car was passed in, as the bidding didnât reach the reserve of $185,000. Jones joked that for that much money, he would buy it himself, but l donât believe he made good on the line.
There was also a famous little b&w documentary film of Moss lapping in an F1 car, somewhere in England l think it was. The camera was mounted just behind the driverâs head, one of the first in car racing films. It is probably available on the internet. I first saw it a scout night, in the mid 1960âs. moss was one of the greats, as his win in the Mille Miglia showed. Just too bad for him that he had Fangio as his # 1 when he was at Mercedes.
Thatâs a worrying and familiar tale with Tim Brooke Taylor. âWe thought he was getting betterâ. An awful lot of Covid victims seem to be on the road to recovery and then crash badly. It seems most dangerous when the worst is apparently behind sufferers. Whether it ends up fatal or not.
Very sad times. I loved The Goodies.
Very sad news about Timbo. Loved the Goodies, I even went to Cricklewood in London just to see what it was actually like .
This one is coming in waves.
It wasnât until I really thought about how large a phenomenon The Goodies were in Australia in the late seventies and early eighties that it hit me.
The ABC stopped showing them because they had this weird rule where they were only allowed to repeat shows a certain number of times.
They reached it and that was it.
Thereâs just no explaining the â â â â fight in every family home that occurred Monday to Friday at 6pm.
One tv. Two channels.
Dad wants to watch the news.
But, but, butâŚThe Goodies!!!
They were awesome.
He was awesome.
Hopefully not also the case when it comes to getting it under control from a society point of view.
Loved The Goodies then but itâs a hard watch today.
Sad news about TBT.
Haha this is hilarious - just thought it was in my household. I remember this part but I cannot for the life of me remember what the Goodies was even about - vaguely recall the characters but thats it.
Loved The Goodies, hated Doctor Who (apart from the theme music) and all other sci-fi rubbish.
Through todayâs eyes there are certainly parts that are racist, sexist and homophobic.
Boobs, too, but they edited those out for the âchildrenâsâ time slot.
Having said that, the character Tim played had a certain trans vibe that, I guess he felt ashamed of, but certainly didnât make anyone think any less of him.
Well said.
The memory of a grandstanding Tim, draped in Union Jack flag and God Save The Queen soundtrack, still makes me laugh.
The only episode I recall outright disliking was the musical one that I think was largely for Bills ego. Absolute snore fest.
And Bill scratches the record and shuts him down.
Itâs seared into the brain.
I loved the musical one. Are you talking about the one with âfunky gibbonâ?
