So which one are you: The Good, The Bad or The Indifferent?
A little of the first two, a lot of the ugly…
Yep, Pete Smith is a nice guy. Spent quite a bit of time with him. Genuinely funny, too.
Love that album. And on that song , making up a lyric ‘the bones were white as teeth sir’ to rhyme with ‘st elmo’s fire splitting ions in the ether’ was, well, out of this world.
The end of the film ‘Me and Earl and the Dying Girl’ has The Big Ship playing in a pretty moving scene at the end.
Tell me you still have the Sale of the Century stick pin?
You bet I do! Still got the board game too, even though it broke the first time we tried to use it.
Ok. If you don’t mind, could you post an image of the stick pin when you get a chance? I loved those things.
I threw mine away years ago…or, if I didn’t, it hasn’t survived 4 house moves.
HAP was a contestant too.
I knew one of those poor ■■■■■■ that choked on his final night.
Brilliant as a brain pie, just mentally unsound.
DA DA DA DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Who was your prize lady? Hopefully it was Delvene Delaney but the others would have pretty good as well.
Apart from coming back on as a return contestant, on what other occasions could you legitimately wear the pin?
Bruce & Walsh
Mine was Delvene. Was screenedJuly 1984. Lost to a keen Bomber fan who was going for the 2 Beemers. Think his name was Jim. Was talking to him before all the taping. We’d obviously stood near each other in the outer at Windy Hill the day before. Versus Fitzroy.
For some reason I had a feeling your prize lady was Victoria Nicolls.
Even if you didn’t win 2x BMWs, that Delvene was your prize lady makes you a winner in our eyes.

I was on the show in 1999 and the lovely Nicky Buckley was the hostess. I was knocked out first night by a guy who was just that split second faster on the buzzer than me and he ended up going on to win the lot. I did spend $5 in the gift shop on a dishwasher so it wasn’t a complete disaster.
As far as the pin goes, it has never been worn and is unlikely to ever be. It sits in a drawer and I’ve only hung onto it as a keepsake.
