Maybe she paid them.
We collected her from the airport when she arrived from the UK and thereafter she did not leave her hotel except for the shows.
The audience members who interacted with her were usually sobbing uncontrollably when she had finished with them.
Just a horrible thing to do.
Pretend to talk to the dead relatives of clearly damaged people.
A quick summary from Wiki. She was a complete fraud.
Doris May Fisher Stokes (6 January 1920 â 8 May 1987), born Doris Sutton , was a British spiritualist, self-proclaimed medium, and author. Her professed ability to communicate with the dead, public performances, television appearances, and memoirs made her a household name in Britain.[1] During her lifetime, she was a controversial figure, with some believing her to possess psychic abilities, but investigations published after her death demonstrated that she used techniques including cold reading, hot reading, and planting accomplices in her audience, giving the appearance of having paranormal abilities.[
As I said before, I dont believe in ghosts and spirits but I saw no possible evidence of plantings of accomplices in the audience.
I know people who I introduced her to who were told personal details of their departed relatives which they found totally unexplainable.
There would be an explanation because she was a con artist who preyed on the vulnerable and gullible and was clearly able to pull the wool over the eyes of some of them.
Sheâs probably talking to herself now.
This just means she was good at being a fraud.
My uncle used to do similar as part of a âmagic trickâ (mostly schtick like âthis is the card youâre thinking ofâ or, âpick a word in a 300 page book and Iâll read your mind and tell you what it isâ.
All it takes is picking the right person to participate, being (really) good at reading body language and enough confidence to roll with it regardless of how badly itâs going.
Clearly this is true but I have no idea how she did it.
These people generally have a team behind the scenes. She would have had an ear piece and fed lines whilst given directions to sections of the audience already targeted and researched.
Thereâs nothing mystical about it. The fact she had no contact with audience members beforehand only confirms that she didnât operate alone.
Simple. Sheâd been fed the information beforehand. Itâs all smoke and mirrors.
How does a magician do their tricks? Itâs all fake, and they wont tell you of course, as itâs crucial to the mystery.
With âpsychicsâ, as pointed about before, itâs down to cold reading, hot reading, playing the odds, close observation of body language, straight out guessing, changing the narrative when getting things wrong, asking questions (when a âpsychicâ shouldnt need to ask a single question), vague assertions, Barnum statements⊠the list of techniques is endless. âŠplusâŠa gullible audience who unquestionably believes and wants this stuff to be true will lap it all upâŠtheyâll accept the âcorrect hitsâ but ignore all the wrong ones.
Watch them closely and youâll see how often they get stuff wrong. Spoiler alert: Itâs about 95% of the time.
None of that happened. She had no earpieces and no team in the background.
Some of what you say is true. However, sometimes she came up with information that was not vague assertions and what she said about the departed relative was so unusual and personal that it was unexplainable.
I am a skeptic who does not believe in clairvoyants and psychics but I could not work out how she did it.
I was with her before her performance and during most of the day beforehand.
Come on mate.
Point of order: lol⊠All of what I say is true!
She had her tricks, and sheâs not saying what they were.
A skilled cold reading can seem to gather some incredible facts.
Thereâs that red jacket in your grand motherâs ward robeâŠyou know the oneâŠ
Oh no you sayâŠshe didnât have a red jacket, but she did have a crimson shirt⊠Thatâs it! Sheâs showing me a red piece of clothingâŠ!!! says the gifted psychicâŠ
Oh wowâŠthe psychic was right!!!
Umm⊠no⊠except they were wrong⊠dead wrong.
The client gives them all the answers.
Their readings are full of crap like that.
Obviously she was a witch that shouldâve been burnt on a stake.
Yes there was sometimes vague stuff like the red jackets but other times she named all the âspiritsâ pets.
Somehow she got that sort of information but it was certainly not obvious where she got it.
Because we usually travelled on the day of her performance we always advised the hotel that no call or visitors were allowed. She was old and frail so we were trying to keep her fresh for her show.
I mean, itâs RIGHT HERE in wikipedia. LOL.
You said yourself you werenât always with her, and you certainly werenât with her crew, producers, stage hands, researchersâŠetc etc.
Just remember these shows are entertainment and despite them saying itâs authentic, itâs not. Thatâs just part of the act, as they arenât going to say itâs trickery.
Some psychics, prior to their shows, have their audience fill in information cards with some of their details and / or questions on the cardsâŠagainâŠgiving them the answers. lol.
