Talking about the NFL was the only time Lane wasn’t a huge pain, possibly because it was the only time he knew something of what he was talking about.
That dead animal is perfectly attached to his scone.
Had one foot in the grave already.
(Too soon?)
“Too soon” is an untenable myth.
Former Port Adelaide great Russel Ebert died on 5 November 2021 at the age of 72 from acute myeloid leukemia. He was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in late December 2020. Ebert also played for North.
I mentioned it on the Port thread yesterday but I genuinely haven’t seen the outpouring of grief in Adelaide over anyone probably since Bradman. Loved by all and even hated opponents of Port are deeply saddened by his death. The word Champion gets thrown around pretty loosely but Russell was a champion player and a even better bloke. Had a bit to do with him over the years and you couldn’t meet a more genuine and down to earth bloke. As much as his death saddens me it’s been more upsetting watching him deteriorate over the last couple of years and now he is finally at peace and free of pain
Russ was a legend rip
Bob Baker, writer for Wallace & Gromit and co-creator of K-9 in Doctor Who.
That’s sad.
I loved K-9.
and cue Stallion.
Was it contractually written in those days that to work on Dr Who your surname had to be Baker?
Tom Baker.
Bob Baker.
Colin Baker.
Pity I wasn’t old enough…
I’m not sure if a script of yours would pass the censors
They should have stopped doing that before Pip and Jane Baker came along…
Doris Stokes became enormously popular after the Don Lane show. She toured a number of times often selling out big entertainment centers.
I thought that most of the stuff she did was pretty tame but every now and again she would come up with something that was completely unexplainable.
She was a very likeable old lady just like every ones grandmother.
Heard yesterday that an old entertainer from London died. I never realized that he was still alive!.
Lionel Blair.
One claim to fame was ryming slang. If you were wearing a pair of flares they were called Lionels.
She was a fraud and a grifter hiding behind a grandmother’s appearance, James Randi was right about her.
I dont believe in ghosts and spirits but I worked with her on her tours and I could not work out how she came up with some of the unexplainable things she did.
Some of the spirits she said she is communicating with could have applied to most families. For instance she would ask if someone in the audience had lost say a George or a James and of course there would be many who could identify a lost relative with these names. However, occasionally she would add details to an audience member so personal that it was impossible to work out how she would know of this about a departed relative.
She was a fraud. They all are.
No doubt but how did she do it?
