I visited some years ago and thought it was a pretty amazing place. Addis Ababa was quite a decent city to get around and had some really cool things to see. Some of the regions we visited would now be Eritrea

I’d always heard they were particularly brutal to their prisoners…and sent many an Italian soldier back to Rome able to sing many octaves higher in the Vatican choir.
But that was Abyssinia…maybe they became nice when it became Ethiopia.

Just saw this and couldn’t see it reported, died on Dec 15th:
Wanda Young, singer in the Motown doo-wop girl group The Marvelettes, died earlier this month outside of Detroit.
Young, 78, died December 15 of complications of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, her daughter Meta Ventress told on Saturday.

Director and producer Jean-Marc Vallée, who won an Emmy for directing the hit HBO series Big Little Lies and whose 2013 drama Dallas Buyers Club earned multiple Oscar nominations, has died. He was 58.
His representative Bumble Ward said Sunday that Vallée died suddenly in his cabin outside Quebec City, Canada, over the weekend, reported The New York Post .
Sources told Deadline that Vallée is believed to have died of a heart attack, and was likely to have died on Christmas Day although he was only found the following morning.

The former player, coach and broadcaster passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday morning in the US.
