Love Thy Meighbour was one of many British showa of the 70’s that would not be made today.

I remember watching that along with shows like On the Buses and Are you Being Served. It could be funny but it was shockingly racist. Even at the time it was made Love Thy Neighbor was considered wrong.
But their wives got along.
Didn’t realise anyone from Love Thy Neighbour was still kicking. Thought they’d all pegged-out year ago.
Edit: Ignore this - I was thinking of one of those other sometimes humorous/sometimes racist (in equal portions) British late 70’s/early 80’s shows which had Sid James in it.
How times have changed, for the better probably in most cases.
Still it was fun to laugh at naughty things back then.

Couldn’t stand Are You Being Served, just unfunny, same with 'Ullo, 'Ullo, just contrived humour, woeful scripts. Didn’t mind On The Buses (I’ll get you Butler said the long suffering Stephen Lewis) with Reg Varney, although l preferred Varney in the earlier Rag Trade with Peter Jones and Miriam (Alright, everybody out) Karlin.
Listen, for I willl say this only once- I cannot agree.
One of the better irreverent and silly comedies to come out of the UK ,Captain.

Refer Ricky Gervais series Extras with the TV show within the show called ‘When the Whistle Blows’ with his infamous (& painful) catch cry of ‘Are you having a laugh?’

I watched the pilot and the first few episodes of Are You Being Served recently, and I thought it was charming.
There weren’t any racial jokes in those episodes, although I’m sure there were plenty later as there were in most sitcoms at the time.
One thing I didn’t remember was whenever anyone was asked if they were free, they’d ostentatiously look over both shoulders at the empty store to make sure that they were, in fact , free before responding.
I thought that was very funny.

Jamal Edwards, the founder of the online music platform SBTV, which launched the careers of artists including Ed Sheeran, Jessie J and Skepta, has died aged 31.
The YouTube star and entrepreneur’s company confirmed the death to the BBC, but his cause of death is unclear.
Edwards performed as a DJ at a gig in London on Saturday night, according to the British broadcaster.
“No details have been released about his death, other than it happened on Sunday morning,” the BBC reported.
My childhood memory of Love Thy Neighbour tells me Eddie Booth was consistently shown up in the show as a racist bigot. While the whole show was predicated on racism (hence would never get a run today), my impression was that it didn’t reinforce it. I could be wrong.
Neil Balnaves — whose companies brought shows like Big Brother and Bananas in Pyjamas to TV screens — has died at the age of 77, after a boating accident in Tahiti.
The Daily Telegraph reported on Monday that Balnaves was holidaying on board the Oneworld mega-motor yacht off the Polynesian island.
The millionaire from Mosman on Sydney’s north shore was aboard a tender – a small boat – alongside the yacht when it flipped over in the waves, throwing him under.
He produced a series of shows, including Big Brother, Bananas in Pyjamas, Water Rats and McLeod’s Daughters.
