Celebrity Deaths 2022

John from Play School has passed away

Was on the show from 1970 through to 1999 so many of us here would have grown up with him on there in our early years.

John was a great favourite of the long suffering parents who had to spend every morning dancing, jiggling and singing along to the Play School hit list.

He was the ‘naughty’ presenter who always put a smile on our faces with his double entendres, and the question on our lips, how did he get away with that?

RIP John and many thanks for keeping us sane through the younger formative years of our children.

Was he also on The Restless Years? I loved that show in my early teens. But he was brilliant on Play School

Acclaimed author of many, many history novels including Wolf Hall, Hilary Mantel has died aged 70. No cause given on BBC but apparently a sudden but peaceful death surrounded by her family.

Anton Fier - drummer on early Bob Mould solo records, early member of The Lounge Lizards and The Feelies, former member of Pere Ubu, founder of The Golden Palominos - has passed away at age 66.

Brilliant, best historical novelist I have read.
Not into PC, took up unpopular causes and angered the Brits with her article that she saw elements of racism in the treatment of Meghan Markle. She was also passionate on asylum seekers

I listened to a number of podcasts and interviews she did quite a while age. She had an amazing mind and her research teased out more than the basic facts.

For a second I thought that said Anton Fig. He’d be about the same age too.

Louise Fletcher aka the infamous Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest passes. Quite a story

Her performance as Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest was enormous, fully deserved the Oscar.

I met Coolio once. He was buying food at Arndale shopping centre in Adelaide.

Weird choice.

I’m not hugely into rap as a musical genre, but Gangsta’s Paradise absolutely stacks up as one of the all-time great songs, both lyrically and just as a musical composition.

And the Weird Al parody is the best parody song ever written.
