I know right? Unfortunately the boot was full of rust due to the common problem of the bootlid drain holes getting blocked and I thought it wasn’t worth fixing at the time. It was nearly 40 years ago though. Who would have guessed back then what they would be worth now.

There was one of those for sale a couple of weeks ago. Bloke wanted $130k. I genuinely thought about it.
Late 80’s I sold cars on Parramatta Road. Remember selling a 240z for $3000 and a HG Monaro 350 for $5000. I could nearly retire on those two alone if I had bought them myself.

Obviously it’s English slang meaning someone who farks things up all the time, but I never knew where it came from, so I asked my Pommy brother in law. It’s rhyming slang and is short for Berkshire Hunt.
So when you’re calling Gil a berk, you’re calling him a Berkshire Hunt.

My brother insists that the pejorative “dropkick” is short for the rhyming slang of “dropkick and punt”. Has anybody else ever heard of this being the origin?
It would change the meaning from foolish person to horrible person.
Actually in England the C word, while extremely obscene, does have an overtone of being foolish and incompetent – someone who f’s things up. Here it just means a horrible person.

Yep that is correct.
I had a habit of calling people dropkicks when I was Mayor, until I was publicly berated with an outline of where the term came from. It didn’t wash to say, yeah, but they are c*nts. I then called someone a nuff-nuff only find to that I upset a whole new group of people.
