Didn’t see a UCL thread for this season so thought I’d start one up. First lot of group games have commenced this morning in the new format of the competition (not a massive fan of it). Liverpool made amends for the disappointing loss to Forest at home in the league with a comfortable 3-1 win at the San Siro against AC Milan. Despite conceding early, goals from Konate, VVD and Szoboszlai secured the 3 points, and it could’ve been more with Salah hitting the woodwork twice. Gravenberch continues his strong start to the season with a MOTM performance at the base of the midfield.
Elsewhere, Bayern Munich win 9-2 against Dinamo Zagreb, Villa return to the competition with a comprehensive 3-0 away win at Young Boys, Real Madrid 3-1 v Stuttgart, Juve 3-1 v PSV Eindhoven.
Liverpool 2 - 0 Bologna. Two wins from 2 against Italian opposition. Goals from Mac Alister and Salah (absolute banger!) seal a relatively comfortable night at Anfield. Gravenberch with another MOTM performance. Missing out of Zubimendi has seen him really grab the opportunity with both hands.
Also, Villa beat Bayern Munich 1-0. Unai Emery doing wonders with that squad!
Liverpool running riot over Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen at Anfield. A drab 1st half has led to an explosion from the Reds after HT, 4-0 the score, Luis Diaz brings up a superb hat-trick in 2nd half injury time. Gakpo the other scorer, continuing his rich vein of form.
