Why Hobbs out ? I thought he went alright
Agree with this. Roll Perkins and Durham more through the midfield please. Which leaves Hobbs surplus to needs as a half forward where Gresham is the better option.
Caldwell, Merrett, Durham, Perkins and Tsatas as your 5 predominant mids in rotation is plenty.
For me the interesting watch will be on whether we elect to bring in Hayes and play three tall defenders or not.
On paper it makes some sense against Adelaide but the counter argument is that two of the three are young and inexperienced and the other has had no pre season together with the fact that playing three on Friday night didnât work and stifled our ball movement and speed in the back half. Albeit it was a team who only played one tall forward. But there might be a want to react and go smaller and more mobile despite the new opposition.
Out: Langford (inj), Ridley (concussion), Prior (soft)
In: El-Hawli, Menzie, Setterfield
McGrath Reid McKay
Shiel Redman Roberts
Duursma Merrett Jones
Perkins Caddy Martin
Kako Draper Gresham
Bryan Caldwell Tsatas
El-Hawli Hobbs Durham Menzie (Setterfield)
He was fine, just played out of position.
The balance of the team was one centre square player too many.
Logically Edwards will come in for Langford.
However, wouldnât be surprised if Goldstein is selected by the brains trust to play forward!
Out: Langford, Ridley (Hobbs sub)
In: Edwards, El-Hawli (Gresham into the 22)
B: McGrath McKay Prior
HB: Redman Reid Shiel
C: Duursma Merrett Martin
HF: Perkins Jones Gresham
F: Kako Caddy Edwards
R: Draper Caldwell Durham
I/C: Bryan Tsatas Roberts El-Hawli
Sub: Hobbs
I havenât looked at matchups but if we need another tall, Hayes in for Prior.
Itâs a young fwd line with no Stringer/Langford/2MP but Iâm here for it.
And yet we decide to give redman CBAs
Hayes and Edwards in for Langford and Ridley
I didnât like what I saw from Prior but I want to see him again, I think he can redeem himself and I would like to give him the opportunity.
Another poor performance and Saad comes in
SEH is absolutely the sort of player we should give a run of games to. Hard, fast, skilled and most importantly flexible. We need players like him who can go back, forward or to the middle as required.
Back him in and see how he goes.
For that reason Iâd like to see SEH come in for Ridley. Redman can play taller if required, and Edwards takes Langfordâs spot.
is the cupboard pretty bare already?
When 6 senior/mature players are now out injured and we are one of the youngest teams in the league the cupboard only has a few AFL level players left
For SEH, I think he just needs to play. Sure, it will likely take a few games to pick up the pace of the AFL so he might struggle against the crows, but i feel after a month or so of AFL footy, he will start to shine.
He has too many valuable traits to be left in the VFL.
Itâs this
Close thread.
You do not debut a player as the sub - doesnât send a good message IMO.
We have two days head start for recovery⌠we generally donât get that.
Didnât hurt Zach Merrett
McGrath McKay Reid
SEH Redman Roberts
Duursma Merrett Martyn
Jones Caddy Gresham
EDWARDS Durham Kako
Draper Tsatas Caldwell
Bryan Hayes Shiel Perkins
Sub from DayWicks Johnson Unwin or Nguyen
Emergency Hobbs a bit stiff but needs to improve disposal
Prior: Cannon
Durham and Draper could rotate for mismatches
On notice Shiel and McKay
This side flexible and packed than last week
No to Hobbs being sub
If Scott is so set on Shiel playing, he can out him as sub. Itâs the perfect role for him
I just donât see him trusting Hayes with a debut, I think Redman pushes back. I think he will probably pick Menzie. He wonât drop Prior after one game regardless of how poor he was and he shouldnât, we have invested in him letâs not completely shatter his confidence as soon as he arrives. The Langford / Stewart one is obvious.
A back line that includes McKay, Reid and Hayes is too sluggish IMO. Iâd bring Hayes if McKay or Reid got injured, or if they continue to perform as they did against Hawthorn.
