Changes v Weagles

But we did play, had a practice match with Hawks - Johnson played well, Wright kicked 2.

I don’t put much credence into a practice match. Maybe they went at it like a normal game.

Winning this game and going to ANZAC day 3-2 is actually not bad spot to be in

Apparently Brady Hough broke down in tears during a post match interview in the rooms on the weekend.

I read an article on it that said he has played 58 games for just the 8 wins and more than half of the 50 losses have been by more than 50 points.

I have no sympathy for West Coast, they have had plenty of success as a club and have been the authors of their own demise here but geez, that would be a tiring existence. Better than being the average punter out there working a 9-5 of course but yeah fk me, that cycle of doing the same reviews highlighting the same shÂĄt and then repeating the process the next week would be shÂĄthouse.

So you want us to intentionally lose games?

Look at the post immediately above, if you ingrain a losing culture in your young batch you may burn them and never come back.

Watch North. Bottomed out, heaps of high picks, and they stink.

Taking this seriously though, what we want or don’t want is pretty irrelevant.

All that really matters are the facts of the Essendon reality and that is that we continually find ourselves finishing mid table. Over and over again. And I reckon we are ‘good enough’ to get there again in '25!

Far better to play 2MP than Goldy, as long as he has a full game in him.

Its a tough one, he only got a chance due to eagles being rubbish, and then after 3 years they are still rubbish.

Its no wonder players leave bottom clubs like North, only took McKay half a season last year to equal his win tally of 8 years at North.

He’s actually one of their few decent players I reckon. Wholehearted competitor. But yeah you’re not wrong, it’d really test your love for the game.

And, to be clear, no I absolutely do not want us to deliberately lose games. I am as white line fever as anyone for 2 hours and 35 minutes each week.

What I do want is for the team we put on the park every week to prioritise the future and not wins over sh!te teams that perpetually elevate us to the nothing regions of the ladder. Prioritising the likes of Tsatas, Hobbs, Hayes, ADW, Johnson, SEH etc over Shiel, Setterfield, Goldy, Lav etc. If that means we lose some additional games, that is fine by me.

(I acknowledge that we appear to be doing that this year to some extent but I can see Brad getting the wobbles when we are 3-2.)

Apologies! But at the same time we have people harping in here that we should be desperately trying to throw matches.

My family doesn’t pay a couple of grand for memberships to turn up and watch 18 footballers, a coach, and selection panel conspiring to toss matches.

I also get the mid table debacle every god damn year!

Stop being soft.

That’s the shot! Have a cup of concrete and fkn harden up hey, hey.

Would honestly just do the one ruck for this week and re-evaluate for Anzac Day. WCE ruck stocks are nothing to write home about. And its West Coast…

In: Tsatas
Out: Bryan

While the VFL are competitive - Day-Wicks and Johnson are still learning there.
They are getting near emergencies so getting close. Wins probably more important than playing 1 more kid.

Setterfield was bloody good. Go wins. Will have a tough run home end of the year.
I’d love to debut a kid Anzac Day.
Be nice for Saad to get a full match.

And Caldwell/Langford to progress well from injuries.

Average age is second lowest.

My tip is we beat WCE but then don’t win another game until Dreamtime.

The only side we could beat to prevent that is NM, but I reckon they are due to beat us. They ran with GC for three quarters, that’d be enough to do us in.

I think we will win against Eagles and Anzac Day.
