Collingwood are going to go full 2008 ANZAC Day on us. Or was it 2010. I dunno, there have been so many thumpings they’ve all kind of merged into one.
I don’t even give us the slightest hope.
Even Melbourne was getting us out the back, they just can’t use it to save themselves. See how that goes with Houston, Daicos x 2 etc delivering the ball.
J Daicos v Duursma
N Daicos v Durham
Pendelbury v Setterfield
Mihocek v McKay
McStay v Reid
Membrey v Ridley
De Goey v Redman
Hill v McGrath
Elliott v Prior
Maybe we go 2009.
Who will be our Zaharakis.
lets say one of Roberts, Kako, Caddy kicks the sealer and creates a new anzac day folklore moment while Pendelbury does a hammy chasing them.
jones needs to knee menzie in the balls for playing so well.
all the usual gloomers on here can’t slag off at menz, so there’s an excessive pile-on on harry, who had to take one for the team.
Maybe, but Brad doesn’t like structural changes and Peter Wright coming in would mean Draper spending more time in the ruck, but Goldy coming in keeps Draper forward more often. If Draper had gone down Brad would be looking at 2MP to fill that role. And I think that’s probably how it’s viewed, 2MP is our back up Draper and Goldy is our back up Bryza.
This is a tough call (wright vs goldy). The question that I think would decide it for me is, can wright rediscover his best form? None of us have seen enough of him to really be able to provide an educated view on it so I’ll back in the coaches.
If they think Wright can get back to his best then he should be selected. If he hasn’t shown enough to suggest he can then goldy should be selected with Draper continuing his forward and support ruck role. We will know a lot about how the club views 2MP with this selection call
If we lose naturally because we are poor side and finish bottom four then its fine but we shouldn’t scoff or condem the team for winning games of footy.
It’ll either be Goldstein or 2MP for Bryan. That’s a given. I’d lean towards 2MP as if we’re actually honouring forwards who lead, he’ll thrive in that situation.
I don’t see how we don’t go in with a backup for Draper. I trust his fitness and conditioning enough to run out the game, but the Perth game might be asking a bit much.
For me, the interesting thing is whether we go again with Setterfield. He did nothing wrong to warrant being dropped. His kicking skills were very good. Decision making was solid. Defensively, he was solid. But I’m not confident there is a matchup for him next week.
I’d lean towards Tsatas replacing Setterfield, but I can see why they’d want to keep Setterfield in the team.
SEH stays in for me. I hope he isn’t sub, but there really isn’t another option as sub. I’ve seen a few mention that Prior should be out in place of him, but they play different positions. Prior is a lockdown defender, SEH is playing off the wing.
If Tsatas comes in, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s the sub. Maybe even Kako but I’d prefer he stay on the field as long as possible.
I’d say Jones is a week or two away from being out of the team. He has to start performing. He’s a great runner (it’s his main asset and in the Collingwood system, he’d work perfectly well), but he’s not using it to get into positions to trouble the opposition in our system. If that doesn’t turn in the next game or so, a run in the VFL is likely. And in all honesty, it’ll probably help us structurally as Langford and 2MP will be prioritised in the forward line and Caddy will have the third defender on him to develop and exploit.
Prior will not be dropped and had been ok
I’m the last 2 games. He is probably the first picked each week as we have no other mid size lock down defender.
I suspect Wright will come in for Bryan. Tsatas possibly for El Hawli
