Changes vs Crows v2

Did they do that to rest him for next week?

jayden Davey 3 goals, hopefully hes in scott’s mind. Play 3 qtrs and get subbed out, or as the sub.

Sorry what? I think they played Hobbs 3 quarters to rest him for 4 quarters on Friday night.

They wont play Jayden next week. We have a conservative approach to selection and he is not near the best 22-24 Scott has.

We really need Parish back in the middle, that game on Saturday night would of been a 40 disposals, 12 clearances Rish game

We lack a classy small forward that can kick goals.
Jayden likely isn’t ready, but could also kick 3 goals on debut if given the chance. Team selection is pretty vanilla need some spice, especially up forward.

I thought Hobbs played only 3 quarters and then rested, as may be required for AFL duties…

Hawks supporter just sent me a message saying Essendon fans were tearing each other apart on SEN - I take it a lot of our supporter group is feeling a bit frustrated right now?

It could be time to bring back Alwyn or give Jaydn a taste of seniors.

Yeah, that’s a good point.

Surely the first ever usage of interesting and selection in the same sentence during Midtable Moyesy’s tenure?

It’s the most comfortable I have felt all year.

Out: Heppell & Perkins
In: Laverde & Hobbs (sub), Hind into the 22

B: Laverde McKay McGrath
HB: Redman Ridley Hind
C: Duursma Merrett Martin
HF: Stringer Jones Gresham
F: Guelfi Wright Langford
R: Draper Caldwell Durham

I/C: Caddy Shiel Cox Kelly
Sub: Hobbs

Emg: Heppell Bryan Setterfield

I had Roberts in until I realised he’d be debuting on a 5 day break.

Pretty sure they rested Hobbs for the last quarter in the VFL though, so he’ll be fresh enough and comes in as sub, with Hind into the back 6 so we can keep Martin wing/forward.

Lav in for Hep, Perk to get some touch and confidence in the VFL.

The remaining games are a really good challenge for the list - it’ll definitely help Scott see who’s up to it and who is not. I hope we stay healthy so we can’t use that as an excuse like last year. We have some mini finals to close the year and a number of slip up opportunities too.

I would punt guelfi straight out of the side. Tried to do too many flashy things instead of just competing and being team oriented

He’s been solid the weeks prior.

I don’t think Peter has been as bad as people are making out and certainly don’t expect him to be dropped for a game at marvel after wet game at the G.

If he doesn’t perform in the next 2 games under the lid then yes I can see him getting dropped

Whilst clearly out of finals contention, Adelaide have been somewhat plucky away from home this season - beating Carlton and pushing Collingwood and brisbane.

No rankine is obviously massive.

Lose this and yeah it’s confirmed that the 2023 drop off has well and truly set in.

On paper its a win but we all know what happened on the weekend

Nah.

I mean not a lot of changes but nah to the loss v crows.

I think we have the backline to hold thilthorpe and no Rankine helps a lot when the balls on the deck.

Like us they played in the rain , but i think they will be worse off and have the travel factor.

For sure its not an easy game, but its easier than Melbourne at the G when the dees are playing well.(they were superb I thought in the absence of gawn and petracca).

Think Adelaide on Friday will be the easiest of the next 4.

If we bring home 4/4 it changes our season - not that we have looked likely to do that.

Then Sydney may start resting players on a road trip to Marvel.

Who knows v Brisbane depends on whats at stake.

Essendon will skip out to a 5 goal lead, then the trainers will bring out the bath water bottles for the players to drink, before these over-rated under achievers hang on for an 8 point win.

But don’t worry - Brad will say it’s a tactic not to belt teams.

And people will actually believe him :joy:

So which concerns you more, that Roberts and Hayes are not getting a go or that Caddy is? Or does it not matter, as long as there is something to criticise?

We will beat Adelaide this week under the roof where we can play our high possession game style more effectively. Adelaide play a big forward line so Laverde is an obvious in for Heppell and as Hobbs was rested in the VFL he will come in for Perkins, Adelaide don’t have a big midfield outside of their captain so Perkins mid minutes probably won’t be missed. Although Cox was poor, in dry conditions I think he is worth persevering with. Draper will have a more like for like opponent which should suit style.
