Training Notes
Baldwin and Hunter began running today, which is awesome to see. Word is Kaine might be ahead of schedule.
J. Davey and Hayes very light session. Caddy was not seen.
Durham just did the warm up handball drill then went inside.
Perkins and Duursma trained fully
Reid, Setters, Ridley all did a bunch of skills and running on the rehab oval. All look nearly ready to go (Rids not kicking on the right foot yet, so he might be a bit behind the others)
Stringer, McKay and Draper light session also. Word is Draper is sore so he might be the one rested and not Goldy.
Menzie trained with he main group with the no contact hat.
No VFL this week so maybe taking opportunity to give the youngers guys a bit of break from full training.
The other thing to note was main training took place on the Marvel size oval which it has been in the last few weeks, maybe testing out to see if the injury issue is to do with the other oval?
I always found it so odd that we made this big song and dance about having two ovals that replicated the dimensions of both the Melbourne grounds and then we never ever use the Marvel size oval for training. Thatâs been the case for 3 or 4 coaches in a row too.
Cheers for the update!
maybe its closer to optus size.
Thanks mate!
Hobbs, Guelfi and Perkins all wearing red at training today. Youâd think one of them will have to play this week.
THIS!
Get into his head before the bounce. Heâs their barometer and the WC crowd cheer HR more than the club itselfâŚ
Already trying to hide when out in public with the hood on poor bastard.
Ah yep, ide say the novelty of being the hope of a state will wear off very quickly, if not already. Hed be much better suited at the Hanger, get it done!
Pound for pound Caldwell can handle him
Big night out night before I would say.
Or just cold from the ridiculous air conditioning aircraft tend to have.

I thinks it more to do with the hangar being so close for the team quick change of top or to hop on the bikes, etc.
During preseason, Scott has split the team up into two for half ground drills across the ovals. Not sure if other coaches have done the same.
Also the extra oval helps for players to do their rehab on away from the group which is handy at times.
I donât think the size of the oval comes into question play between Marvel and the MCG. The game is just quicker at Marvel because the elements arenât an issue at all. Very hard to replicate that on an outdoor oval.
For reference thoughâŚ
VFL train on the MCG oval.
VFLW and AFLW train on the Marvel oval. But AFLW and VFLW train at night with lights and the MCG lights fall in the airport low lux light zone only area.
I think the Marvel field light lux levels are similar to the Windy Hill ones due to being in a residential area.
Pretty close ?

Similar size to Optus
