Changes vs GWS (2020, round 10) - speculation

Out TBC, Townsend, Cahill, Ham, Redman
In McKernan, Langford, Begley, Guelfi, Mckenna

TBC offered zilch as a forward, Draper looked to have main ruck role covered. McKernan can provide chop out and gives Stewart another tall to play with.

Neither of them are on the injured list. McKenna played in the practice match yesterday. Not sure about McKernan

What did he say there that was out of line?

One bloke is responsible or where Francis sits and it isnt The coach/development staff etc

Has been lazy and half interested since he got to the club

There have been 5 minute bursts in maybe 3-4 games where he has shown his talent, the rest of the time he has shown a lack of interest or shown he’s too lazy or shown awful body language

This one is not the clubs fault

Bring Mozzie in, take one of the old guys out like Zaka or Towner.

Langers in for Bellchambers.

We aren’t winning anything this year as per usual. May aswell just get games into our young players.

Townsend is only 27 - is that an old guy these days!

It is when he is a forward who isn’t confident to kick for goal from 45 out directly in front.

Spot on. In my early 40’s I’ve seen 20 years of ā– ā– ā– ā–  after 20 years of being a powerhouse, but ā– ā– ā– ā–  me people are carrying on like we have a full list and are playing at home every second game.

It’s not the same ol same ol.

We’ve never had 4 all Australians out, including our captain and 6-7 of the our absolute best 22.

Add a pandemic, being away from home for a month, 5 day breaks after travelling from ADL to Brisbane.

In: Langford, Mozzie, Smack
Out: Cahill, Ham, Zaka

Luckily you can say you’ve seen 20 years of success, because I’m 22 and never seen the club do anything of any relevance. We have lost a generation of supporters through lacklustre football, with frustrating performances week in week out. It beggars belief as to how long it’s been to get this list up and running. Pessimism is the only coping mechanism.

I get the coping mechanism. We all have our emotional ups and downs with this team, but you need to set realistic expectations going in. Or you’re setting yourself up for major disappointment.

We were never going to win that game with our players out, coming off a 5 day break and travel from ADL, to play a team who’s driving 60 minutes up the road.

And it’s a big leap to say we’ve lost a generation of supporters.

My 8 year old son hasn’t seen us win ā– ā– ā– ā–  buts he’s outside now in his bomber shorts and jumper, at his own desire, after watching out loss, kicking the ball around pretending to be Jakey Stringer.

I don’t usually let his stay up to watch the late games. But I did with all the ā– ā– ā– ā–  us Victorians are going through. But I sat him down pre match and said as much as we want to win, don’t expect to tonight.

And I gave him the logical reasons why.

The expectations thing is really interesting.

This is a usual Blitz meltdown, driven by a weird ā€œdouble thinkā€ where we are simultaneously both good enough that we should beat a flag favourite but are also a terrible limbo team destined for mediocrity.

We have had a heavy development squad on the park for almost the whole season, the game against Sydney the only time we looked anywhere near full strength. That means ups and downs in form and performance.

Good on you and your son with your commitment of the club. There will be a time in the near future when our crowds and supporter numbers will decrease because people will be sick of the same crap with the club, I know my old man is over it and struggles to watch anymore.

I don’t doubt the frustration and some tuning off.

But you can also take the angle that we’ll win finals in the future and our membership volume has been increasing year on year.

STAND BY YOUR HAM.
GIVE HIM A BONE TO CLING TO.

Smack for TBell (if available)
Guelfi for Redman
Langford for Ham
Mozzie for Cahill

I sort of hope we drop Draper as it may unhinge one of us enough to go burn the place down.

Nah I’m back in, we can win this

Umpiring In the first half the worst I’ve ever seen. Ever. That caused the early damage. We couldn’t respond after that. Second half irrelevant really. We would have lost anyway, but it would have been much closer and more competitive.

In: langers, mozzie
out: cutler, ham/Zaka

Except McKenna played in the scratch match, so his ā€œstatusā€ doesn’t need to change to be an IN.

EDIT: sniped by @aboods by only two hours.

IN: McKernan, Langford. We need some experience up forward.

OUTS: Bit more difficult. Number of players had bad nights.

Would hold McKenna back for the Suns and StKilda.

Not expecting any injured players back yet.
