Changes vs Norf

Stewart’s drop off in form is a concern. We need him in form

Based on the VFL I will revise.

Out: Green, Redman
In: Long, Francis

Really going through the motions in the VFL.

It seems he really struggles being the first banana. Is good as third tall because teams don’t really have three decent tall backs.

On today’s showing Long comes in for Green rather than Colyer.

How do we get both of Francis and Ridley in?

Really?
I’ve stuck by Long for a while now, but I’m ready to give up on him. Has no excellent qualities I can see. Slightly above average speed, not a great mark, pretty bad kick, makes poor on field decisions, looks disinterested. Basically, the only time he fires up is when he wants to hit someone. Really disappointed in Long. In my opinion, not 1sts quality and should be delisted end of season.

Long is a very average footballer. Has a couple of party tricks and that is all. There is absolutely no substance to his game. I’d pick Jerrett ahead of him every day of the week.

And on today’s form, you’d be looking at Ridley to come in for Redman, and fark knows who else.

Me either

That said, he’s been pretty decent in 4 of his past 6 or so in the VFL.

What a load of dog ■■■■.

Started slow, but was important today. Hit targets all day, never got caught and his form has been solid for weeks. Good to see him progressing and working towards a senior appearance.

Crunch him.

No to Colyer

The Bulldogs lost the game because of their inaccurate kicking. The games was theirs to lose they had north by the neck until the last few minutes. They should have flooded their backline and manned up. It was a good game for the doggies even though they lost. If we bring our A game, we can win.

Jake played an excellent game today.

His disposal was outstanding and took the game on, from half Back.

He showed that he’s a class above Merrett. I’d guess he was at about 90% efficiency from 23(?) disposals.

Gave himself every opportunity to be picked.

While Merrett butchered the ball repeatedly… and repeatedly. And repeatedly.

In-Ridley for Redman and Hind for Green.

Oh.

Lol.

I take it you disagree.

Fair enough. Look, I obviously hope I’m wrong, and he gets a run and kills it. I’m no longer expecting it though.

Just a bit! I may be a little biased because Longy Sr is my all time favourite, but I’ve seen some genuine quality from Jake this year. For the most part, he’s cut out the biting off more than he can chew aspect of his game, has improved overhead, is using the ball better, tackles with intent and has become more consistent. Admittedly in some of these areas of improvement, he didn’t exactly set the bar all that high in the past, but I see qualities in him that can make us better and will back him in.

I find it astounding re:Long, that he hasnt put on a bit more size through his whole body.

That’s fair.
I love it when people see something in a player and back them to the hilt.
I was the same with Langford.
And with Redman.
And although I don’t think I will be with Jake, I’d be happy to be wrong.

What are these qualities? I agree Jake has had a pretty good year in the VFL, but to me he still looks nowhere near an AFL footballer.
