Changes vs Port Adelaide R2 2021

Absolutely spot on.

In: Zerk-Thatcher & Perkins
Out: Francis (omitted) & Cox (suspended)

No Stringer?

Going by what @CJohns has said. He might not be ready yet.

Oh right. Did Waterman injure himself? I thought i read that in the VFL game thread.

I honestly can’t remember. He might have.

They will be very competitive and have a close game (as they do when there are zero expectations) but still lose. Then when everyone has their hopes up again they will be flogged by St Kilda the week after.

Never again I’m being sucked in by a performance

In: Waterman, Stringer
Out: Cahill, Cox (susp)

I hope so. The bump itself was to the body but the arm just clipped him on the way through. Not a lot in it but depends how much head office want to crack down on these things and they have a catch all they can use to do so.

Bring in all the kids so they can learn the tradition of being flogged in Adelaide

I agree with the premise of what you are saying but I think we had the team balance wrong.

We had planned for Stewart being our tall back and he was looking great (Moore like). We replaced him with Redman, not like for like but against Hawthorn maybe worth a shot.
Stewart is out for half the season and this medium tall backline isn’t sustainable and makes Francis look out of his depth with the big boys.
We need a big boy down back.
BZT isn’t that big so it should be Hooker until Stewart returns.

Why draft waterman if you don’t play him when the likes of Stringer are out. He needs to come in because he has body strength and he can actually kick straight for goal. Hooker definitely needs to go back. Dixon will have a field day against our current backline which looks the worst i have seen in my living memory of following efc.

I’ve been outta the loop, what happened to Paddy Ambrose?

Steady on. He was looking okay.

I just love how everyone is focusing on the negatives in the 2nd half. How about giving some credit to the same group of players who created the 40 point lead in the 1st half - Shiel was on fire (2 goals in the half) yet people want to burn him.

Yes, we lost by 1 point which is shattering, but what we did see is our potential future advantage. A midfield that bats deep and has a willingness to learn. We are a very young team with an incredibly inexperienced backline. They will make plenty of mistakes & the midfield will make mistakes as well as they learn to work with Draper & Caldwell. Give them time. Don’t put the burden of the last 6000 days on this group.

There is huge potential with this group and we can see evidence of learning. It’s just unfortunate we’ve some injuries to key players with the youth not quite ready. This is a team with a future. How quick is arrives we don’t know, but I for one finally see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Support the youth and I have no doubt we will be rewarded. I think there were only 5 players with 100 games last night, so time is on our side. Fingers crossed that Cox gets a chance to play next week. Go Bombers!

Can’t have Harrison, Hooker and Wright in the same forward line. Too slow and no forward pressure from our smalls
