to be fair, the industry itself is full of people in the same boat, including coaches.

They should have asked chatGPT for help. It’s passed a coding interview for a $183k Google job, it passed the US Medical Licencing Exam, and it’s passed the Bar Exam. It’s pretty cluey.

I don’t understand much of it, but i’m sure I saw yesterday somehwere people have already started hacking it in some way to make it do or complete tasks not associated with it’s intended use.

Seems to happen with a lot of technology. Apple’s airtags (and other companies’ similar devices) spring to find. Originally intended to do things like track your keys, luggage etc, it wasn’t long before people came up with the idea of planting them on people without their knowledge and using them to stalk said person.

Re chatGPT, admittedly I only have a layman’s understanding, but I have read that if you ask it to do something “objectionable” (eg how to build a weapon, or write an essay justifying slavery etc) it will censor the output. It opens (or rather re-opens a centuries-old) debate about who should decide what should be censored and to what degree, and the “slippery slope” associated with it. Today it’s censoring thoughts on justifying slavery, tomorrow it’s censoring anything negative associated with a certain political party etc.

also rumours that it has live access to the internet.

Googles version didnt do so well.

you mean “ethics”?

Yeah, that.

Rezza has not informed his university that he is using the tool. “I don’t tell my professors because there is not yet a clear policy enacted on this matter in my university. I also think it is not necessary; using a calculator does not stop you from becoming a mathematician.”

yep. I hesitate to mention it, cos well this site, but I saw something similar on political figures.

but it’ll come down to what side of the fence you sit on to figure if it’s real or not.

which begs the question how long until these programs realise humans are the problem, not it.
yes i’m talking real life terminator stuff, I mean at this point you’d find it hard not to agree with the AI that humans are the problem to the earth

Humans need to be made extinct.

lol what

it’s a tool built by a private company - that’s not censorship, it’s moderation

it’s like claiming twitter is censoring users by prohibiting links/solicitation to competitor platforms - they can have whatever rules they like on the platform they own and operate, they have no obligation whatsoever to allow unchecked use of their services for any reason - and neither does OpenAI

Sorry, yes, moderation as opposed to censorship.

I am not tech-minded…so all I have are instinctive reactions…but I found this comparison interesting.

Over the past decade(?), Crypto has been self-promoting SO HARD as THE transformational innovation of the times…and I just couldn’t see it, no matter how hard the circus ringleader promoters tried.

Within ONE DAY of seeing ChatGPT, my (threat?) instincts were telling me that we are opening up a GENUINE new frontier of innovation.

I think Crypto can quietly go off to a corner and die now.

Chat GPT response to your comment

Thank you for your thoughts! It’s understandable to have different perspectives on the impact of new technologies.

While cryptocurrency has certainly garnered a lot of attention and investment, it’s important to recognize that it’s just one part of a larger trend towards decentralized and automated systems powered by artificial intelligence and blockchain technology.

ChatGPT is indeed an exciting example of the advancements being made in AI, and it’s true that it has the potential to bring about significant change across many industries. However, it’s also worth noting that there are still many challenges to overcome before AI can be widely adopted and truly transform the way we live and work.

It’s always interesting to see how people react to new technologies, and everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Nevertheless, it’s important to approach new innovations with an open mind and to be aware of both the potential benefits and the risks they bring.

ChatGPT could really help with Tech support.
I can see it being used as a filter to ensure you’ve gone through the right steps and used online sources before actually speaking to someone who can help with your problem.

One of the devs in my team keeps putting off a request to automate an ICT maintenance task, which I’ve been asking for the better part of six months now. Approx two weeks ago, I sat next to her and asked ChatGPT to draw up script in Python - done in less than 10 seconds. The fear was real.

There are other applications such as Power Apps Virtual Agents that’s useful that too. Human interaction would still need to play a major role though.
