North Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson, Brisbane Lions coach Chris Fagan and former Hawthorn welfare manager Jason Burt are likely to be exonerated by the AFL, as the league moves to wind up the independent panel investigating allegations of historical racism.
Two well-placed sources, with knowledge of the investigation but not authorised to speak, confirmed the AFL was moving to end the panel’s investigation, having concluded that Clarkson, Fagan and Burt have no case to answer based on available evidence.
wow! Hoffy FTW!!! Great scholarship
For some reason (unknown) I learnt that as a kid. It is stuck in my brain.
Sounds like the AFL are ignoring the “evidence” given initially in the HFC report conducted by Egan, (and it subsequently being passed on to them,) and what the journalist uncovered, and the email chain… and are only going to accept evidence they turn up themselves in their own investigation. Problem is it seems there are people on both sides who are reluctant to participate in the investigation for various reasons. AFL is now well placed to say “We conducted an investigation (well, we tried to,) and on the evidence submitted during that investigation (which was none,) Clarkson etc have no case to answer.”
This is… eyebrow raising timing. Why would he be taking leave if this decision was so close? All i can think of is that the lawyers have had major crisis talks over the past day or two…
Until the civil action take place.
The AFL puppet Jake Niall rides again.
That piece reminds me of the letter he wrote to Essendon supporters re what was going to happen re our saga within the AFL.
Have any of those AFL media puppets thought of the mental anguish they are causing to the players involved.
Nope, they have made it all about Clarkson.
No doubt Clarkson is suffering mentally and while it’s hard for him, am sure the players are suffering too, being made out to look like liars via those AFL media puppets.
It needs to have a resolution not just dropped like it never happened.
Based on available evidence is likely key wording. Accusers don’t trust AFL process and the panel they formed and they wont provide statements is how i read it. AFL eventually cant make a case out of simply the key people not talking to investigators… despite evidence that prompted investigation
This whole thing has been a complete farce.
Between the AFL and its communication specialists, that was inevitable.
Or the opposite is true. By making the decision to step away he forced them to hurry the f up and get it done.
Edit: nvm.
This latest article from The Age provides an explanation for that ridiculous piece of shizen written by purple B-Flog last week.
The AFL will protect the 3 people at the centre of the allegations and then hit hawks with a wet lettuce leaf.
All good
Surely there’s a European court somewhere that will appeal?
How could those dogs get exonerated?
Of course they will.
