Climate Change in Australia (Part 2)

And what are the signs this will happen or is happening? Is it another feeling you have? We’ve historically under invested, lost decades of development by ignoring cutting edge solar innovation and losing talent to other countries, and still have no mature bi-partisan dialogue on energy.

Think I could say the same to you.

Well, I don’t trust your thinking chum. Good luck

Some of the highest prices in the world aren’t evidence of this?

FFS

Yes?

Just stubbed my toe. Good luck

Good luck with what?

When you say highest prices, what are you referring to? Gas? Electricity?

And that’s an extreme thing to put forward, where are you getting this from?

Mostly referring to gas. The costs are outrageous.

If it helps, coming bills should come back down to something reasonable.

The Russian shenanigans in Ukraine drove a massive spike in global gas prices. That coincided with a failure of multiple coal power plants in NSW, which pushed electricity supply onto gas. Both those issues are past now and domestic prices returning to normal.

My personal view is that people should weigh up the cost of moving their heating away from gas, especially if they have solar.

All this discussion is a waste of time.

By the end of this century food and water wars, mass starvation, societal breakdown all essentially arising from depleted resources, over population, and environmental degradation will be enormous.

The current Ponzi scheme of continuous economic growth is unsustainable.

Humanity is farked.

The real issue is whether Essendon will a final before the apocalypse!

I love your optimism! :slightly_smiling_face:

I switched the gas off last year, much prefer heating the house from the roof. Interestingly coincided with the youngest’s asthma disappearing

I have an issue with that chart because:
1: The cold in Northern Europe from 1400 to 1700 impacted food production to such a degree that it directly led to the deaths of over 1/2 the population of Europe though the bubonic plague & scenarios like fairs in London were being held on the Thames River because it was frozen solid. If you think a fraction of a degree does that, well I think logic needs to play a role here

2: there was a 400 year period from the 9th century that saw an explosion of the population of Europe due to warmer weather & therefore an abundance of food. It also saw the settling on Iceland & Greenland cause they were not iced in like they are today and farming was very viable.

IMO, that chart does not reflect known written history

Crazy confident.

Everyone knows the world ends at 03:14:07 UTC on 19 January 2038.

Well the Urban Heat Island effect doesn’t feed into the incline, in fact it would reduce the incline…. So yep, lets ignore that one whilst running around reducing historical temperature records.

No wonder people are skeptical

I’m hoping we are all freaking out about the Epochalypse as it draws near. That would be a win, imo!
