In an interview today, Littleproud said he has no problems with Barnaby Joyce putting up a Private Member’s Bill ( even if it doesn’t reflect Nat policy on climate change or any other Nat policy).
Can you post me the link, I checkedfor the Tassie Greens and could not fint it.
Whats a worse MO here?
Greens: Promise everything without ever really being in a position to have to deliver
LNP: Being pro-mining and as a result anti climate action but don’t hide it
Labor: Saying they are pro climate action, but then repeatedly acting to the contrary.
None of it is any good tbh
Sorry, thought we were talking Feds because Parliament just resumed there.
Though there is likely less deviation state-to-state for the Greens that whatever local hodgepodge of L and N exists.
I do think Labor are better than the others on balance but do concede they are not perfect by any stretch.
On balance what Labor do is disingenuous, and incredibly corrupt
OK and who do you think is better?
Define better?
The LNP position is easier to deal with because you can pick your battles in advance, but I wouldn’t say they were better.
The Labor method is far slimier
I know you are not stupid, but sometimes you post such naive waffle.
All these Parties reflect what their Voter base want.
Greens have good climate policy, but do not attract enough votes to make any real difference. They try to widen their appeal but have managed to alienate those who like their climate stance but hate just about everything else, so economic moderates move to Teals.
LNP cater to their clients. Though as their message moves further to the Right, even some Mining Industry depart support. Not sure they really know where they stand.
Labor has a mixed bag, which reflects who they are. Read the Hansard I posted, Karen Grogan says it better than me, argument becomes one of climate vs economy, which again reflects the Voter base view.
Do a Poll and you will find a large majority wanting strong climate policies and environmental protection, but when it comes to Voting feeding the kids, paying mortgage and just surviving is the most important factor. And most want the large house with all the energy sapping gear.
So Beni, by all means bag the Politicians but they are not the issue, it is the monkeys who Vote.
Might be different if the base had all the facts.
Not sure that Voters are actually interested in “facts”.
Climate change creating security risks is not difficult to understand, but Voters don’t seem to care enough about climate change destroying our planet to Vote for climate actions that may hurt their pockets.
Your mob have the keys for as long as they want it as the Libs will never see power again.
If they wanted to do something really effective they can just do whatever the hell they like and the voters have no option but to accept it
Yep.
The libs are a train wreck, while the nats are busy tearing up railway lines so there’s going to be a bigger train wreck in future. The ALP has a massive house of reps majority, and an easy pass in the senate for pretty much any progressive climate legislation they care to put forward. The ALP have massive political capital right now. That’s exactly the time you hope for as a govt, cos you can advance major reforms without having to worry about the short term ballot box implications.
There’s no blaming the libs or the voters any more. Labor is in its second term with a massive majority. Under those circumstances, if climate policy is ■■■■, the reason for that is that the Labor party has chosen for it to be ■■■■.
.
Not sure any Government blames Voters, that is my call. I believe that Government reflect what the Voters want, so climate action is not the highest priority.
I had an argument today with a Federal Minister on HECS which developed into a wider debate. His view was that the Government now has HECS policy correct while I think that HECS is a dumb burden and all University should be free. We collect more income from HECS than total of Mineral Resources Tax, which I reckon is wrong. There should be no private education, should all be Government and free. We also should consider pre-school as part of our public education system, make it all Government run and get profit motive out of it.
Labor may have a big majority but cannot do anything without a Partner in the Senate.
So tell us proles what to do Big Brother. We as individuals don’t have the ability to make a difference.
Vote for the Greens if you want a better climate policy.
Power is with the Voter in any democracy.
FWIW, polling suggests that younger voters are the most concerned at climate change. It’s relevant to lowering the voting age.
They are also more likely to be affected by AI. Those AI data centres are going to consume enormous amounts of electricity.
El Niño is gonna be lit.
