Commentator Nepotism

even after saying in reference to an indigenous player (might have been Michael Long) "not bad for an ***.

He referred to himself, as a wog.

that may be true, but he also referred to Wanganeen (sorry i thought it was Long) as an "abo" during a paid talking event, then went on to tell someone who confronted him about it "youll get over it"
http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/robert-dipierdomenico-dropped-as-auskick-ambassador-over-gavin-wanganeen-abo-remark/story-e6frea6u-1225881334474?nk=2719338c3092c15b6fe453d0e99a20aa
Did that last part really happen? Wanganeen said in his interview with Open Mike that dipper rang him right away and apologised.

Well, there's quotes in the article. It also states correct that he apologised and that wanganeen accepted that.
Also, everyone says 'he's not a racist' so I don't know how you can draw that conclusion given the comments.

Christie Malthouse was rubbish
Samantha Lane is rubbish
Hamish McLachlan is rubbish
Oh wait, this isn't a thread about nepotism....

Didn't think Christie Malthouse was bad to be honest.

Thought she was OK too.

Didn't try to make herself the centre of attention, just did her job.

yeah Kristy was good

nepotism
ˈnɛpətɪz(ə)m/
noun

  1. the practice among those with power or influence of favouring relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs.

Is it just me or does anyone else notice the same 5 or 6 guys floating around commentating across every different media outlet

Turn on the TV, Gary Lyon

turn on AFL.com  Gary Lyon

turn on the radio Gary Lyon

not that I dislike Gary, he is good but you could equally replace his name with one of the other guys

Brian Taylor, Hutchy, Richo, Ling, LLoyd (although I do truly love him)

James f*** Brayshaw  (someone please get him some cough syrup for his throat)

etc

The point I am trying to make is that it seems like a round-a-bout where no one new gets a chance in the industry it's just the same guys covering EVERY bit of footy media

sometimes it's refreshing to listen to the interstate radio stations on the AFL app just to hear a different voice!!!

-_-

"Yes Gary"

Nothing ■■■■■ me more than the continual whacking off over each other for the most menial, banal sentence - when one of them manages to spit one out in one go, reading straight from a press release.

"John Smith has been dropped"

"He's been dropped has he Gary?"

"Yeah that's right, he's been dropped" (typically with a third muppet screaming over the top in the background)

"Great stuff Gary".

"It's a big call isn't it?"

"Huge call"

"Mmm"

"Best in the business Gary. Any idea why that might be?"

"Rumours are around. Club refusing to confirm"

Padding, padding, padding.

Ever listen to Triple M an hour before the Saturday game?  It's unbearable.  All those wankers giggling at one another, their stupid inside jokes and they cap it off by working out their horse racing tips.

The worst is listening to special comments from four different people for five minutes straight while the game is on.

And why does Brayshaw have to yell all the time, even when he's trying to talk properly - does my head in

That's the only way he can be funny.

Problem is, it's not funny.

Christi Malthouse was okay except for her GIANT MAN HANDS.

I liked Kelli Underwood.

Then you d*ckheads complained.

Now more Garry.

Barry Hall on Fox… can barely understand him

I liked Kelli Underwood.

Kelli Underwood is the worst commentator on anything ever anywhere

Christy Malthouse I thought was a very good boundary rider, seemed to understand the game better than most of her male counterparts. What happened to her?

She had a baby, don't know what she has been doing since.

why the hell would you listen to MMM coverage. Absolutely beyond me.

MMM is worse than fox.

I liked Kelli Underwood.

She wasn't the best but she's miles from the worst as well.

I think her knowledge of the game was pretty good, she also wasn't a flog. As for her commentary her voice probably used to get too gravelly and it became difficult to listen to. I stil think however that several people couldn't stand her because she was a woman.

Current token women in Lane and the devil are sensationilst gossiping idiots.

Yeah annoying voice and sometimes a bit slow - a lot of commentators who’ve done VFL/WAFL/SANFL struggle with trying to call every single thing.
