Extensions cause heaps of problems. Beware. Before installing any check google ratings which is a newish thing(built in).
ublock origin is the only good one, adblock sells whitelist spots to advertisers
TPG is divesting itself of email services which also means that iiNet, Internode and Westnet will no longer be with TPG. The Messaging Company is taking over these services and is supposedly in the process of transferring customers across.
While I’m waiting to be transferred, I’m having a terrible time getting TPG email to work properly. In the rare event that the service connects, it so slow as to be unworkable (think dial-up on Mogadon).
Any other Blitzers with TPG or its affiliates having similar frustrations?
We have iinet (netspace actually) email addresses, and also waiting to be transfered.
But we haven’t had issues with email services. My mother also has Westnet, and doesn’t seem to have email problems.
Maybe it’s just TPG, then. It really is dismal and has been for a while now.
Is anti-virus software required for a PC, or does Windows sufficiently look after this?
I’ve had a Mac for years and never had to worry about this, but now my son has a PC which he uses for gaming, and I’m not sure if I need to shell out for malware software.
depends, do you click every link you ever see?
Windows Defender which comes with Windows is all you need.
I have no idea why people pay for rubbish like Nortons.
some people click everything that comes their way and needs that level of protection from avg/eset etc
Anyone have any clue how to fix the 255% battery charge on laptops? Whenever I remove from charge it automatically shuts down.
Except there are viruses and malware that Defender will not protect against.
Defender is no worse and no better than 90% of anti-virus software.
It is almost a complete waste of money buying AV software.
If you think otherwise, you’ve been taken for a lend.

Try updating the driver.
If not that, the battery may just be cactus.
My daughter’s Apple laptop won’t turn on. Just black screen, the computer is about 6 years old is this something that can be fixed. She’s doing year 12 next year and I really don’t want to have to buy a new one.
If it starts up, fans running etc, but the screen isnt on - likely the display connector cable inside has come loose and needs to be fixed by a techie. Dunno how much Apple will charge to fix it, it’s a 5 min job but they’ll probably try and sting you hundreds
Try reseating the battery. Ie take it completely out of the laptop and put it back in.
Don’t know that one specifically, but I’m betting they use 8 bits to store the value and 255 actually means -1 (or error).
Does she turn it off properly ever. If not battery maybe cooked…literally.
Try holding power button for a minimum 10 seconds.![]()
Thanks for the reply’s. Got my hands on it today as my daughter was at a friends house last couple of days and just turned on straight away? Not sure what the problem was. Pretty sure it’s never properly turned off. I’m really just hoping it last out the year.
