I wonder if we’ll have reached >70% single dose vaccine coverage before a variant pops up that renders the vaccines <50% effective at reducing serious illness

Looks like new slots have opened up for first dose Pfizer today as after days of no appointments available in the next month l was able to get one on 13/7 and there were multiple slots available in my regional area.

I reckon they could be reserving slots for second doses, then releasing these for first doses if second doses not booked.
Which reminds me on the discussion around second dose bookings being low. I was told at the clinic when I got the first does fo Pfizer that walk up was OK for second dose, no need to book.
Daycare centre in Sydney (Little Zak in Narellan Vale) has been added as an exposure site after a child attended whilst contagious, says ABC.
I booked via the standard online booking system. I then called the phone number to see if there were other appts relatively close by elsewhere sooner and they said there were but only a few days earlier so l didn’t bother changing.
So l’d imagine metro would have new slots also.
