COVID-19 Round 12 - c'mon, it's just a little prick

I think any movement where possible is crucial and it’s not just for economic reasons.

I have many kiwi friends that have already been home to see people/friends/family they haven’t seen for over a year.

It’s inconvenient at times and not perfect but it has allowed people to reunite. The model will be improved as we get more vaccinations but at the minute and flow people are thankful for.

Yeah I’m not downplaying the need for it.(and ASAP)

More than they(authorities) need to put more energy into getting it right faster for people so they can travel.

same would be for interstate as well.

Any consistency would make business easier. My company has simply stopped being booked interstate as we can’t guarantee we can get there.

Brandis tweeted on 21 June of another special Qantas flight home.
No reporting connected to Morrison trip about Australians desperate to get home.
UK emerging from long localised lockdowns, more bearable there now.

Well after my quarantine experience a few weeks ago I’m staying put for the time being. I don’t want to have to go through that again.

Departed London on June 20th and arrived in Darwin on June 21st. That is the only Qantas repatriation flight from London that we had logged for June

Well yes exactly. Borders between states even in outbreaks need to stay open. It’s about testing and vaccinating those who are moving.

A mate of mine works for an NBN contractor as an installer(related to Telstra). That company paid for a mobile van to go around the country to vaccinate all its staff so they can keep working.

It’s not hard, this whole vaccine roll out is completely bungled. It’s not targeted adequately at the vulnerable or those who most need it to keep the economy going.

Should be simple if you have a business reliant on interstate travel, you should be able to secure vaccines for your staff to allow right of travel.

Same with airlines and their passengers/crew.

And news of that should be made absolutely public so everyone is banging the door down for their jab.

I’d be making vaccines available to everyone who books a trip to NZ or a flight interstate. Mandatory that they take the vaccine too travel and then an insurance policy covering any inconvenience(eg if the vaccine doesn’t work)

Giving travellers priority for Pfizer when not enough for those staying at home…?

Lol, just got notification via a text message that my previously approved G2G pass is now rejected.
Was meant to be in Perth Friday. Will have to see what the conditions are for exempted travellers to find out if it’s worth re-applying or to reschedule

They were dead stiff.

Dutton’s overriding ambition is to annex the Sudetenland and invade Poland, not muck around with vaccines.

Enjoy your arrival in Radelaide folks

Sorry Ace, but I have met Steve Marshall and he is a control freak. He runs the show, just lets others take the fall.

And dying to see it.

Reports of positive case(s) in Sydney northern beaches - will be in tomorrows numbers.

South Australia shuts border with NSW

South Australia is closing its border with New South Wales effective immediately.

People currently travelling to South Australia from New South Wales, or who have been in that state in last 14 days, will not be permitted to enter South Australia.

The hard border excludes a 100-kilometre buffer zone for cross border communities along the SA-New South Wales border.

It also excludes South Australians returning home, essential workers, people moving to South Australia permanently and people fleeing domestic violence.

The Premier Steven Marshall says the decision was made because of the deteriorating situation in New South Wales.

Yes he is a control freak and I have met him a couple of times but this is out of his guidance.
Went we went into our State of Emergency all power was handed over to Commissioner Stevens who is now the State Co-ordinator and has been granted broader power

Marshall has clashed with Stevens a number of times over border issues and the like.

During this Major Emergency, Authorised Officers have broad powers to do whatever is necessary to address the outbreak of COVID-19 within South Australia (Emergency Powers).[3]

These Emergency Powers allow the State Co-ordinator and Authorised Officers to:[4]

  • enter and, if necessary, break into any land, building, structure or vehicle (using such force as is necessary);
  • take possession of, protect or assume control over any land, body of water, building, structure, vehicle or other thing;
  • direct or prohibit the movement of people, animals or vehicles;
  • direct a person to remain isolated or segregated from other people or to take other measures to prevent the transmission of a disease or condition to other people;
  • direct a person to undergo medical observation, examination or treatment;
  • require any person to give information;
  • direct any person to assist in exercising any power related to the Major Emergency; and
  • do anything else necessary to address the outbreak of COVID-19 within South Australia.

NSW Police Commissioner has powers to act without declaring state of emergency. Rare to see Fuller front at a Covid presser.

I seriously do wonder if NSW was led by anyone else but Gladys, whether Dr Chant wouldn’t be requesting a lockdown.
She didn’t look too confident at today’s briefing, but that may have been the increased tensions and questioning of certain elements during the briefing (some which were not directed at her).

In breaking news Mrs humble and I are on the Sydney flight about to.land in Adelaide.

Should be interesting when we land.

Finally, I can report breaking news. After a decade on Blitz.

You heard it here first.
