It irks me that the deaths are an afterthought.

Maybe you need to be in NSW to get the info…
But here is the info on the two deaths…

Sadly, NSW Health has been notified of the deaths of two people who had COVID-19.
A man in his 90s from Newcastle died at RFBI Hawkins Masonic Retirement Village in Edgeworth. He acquired his infection recently as part of the outbreak at the facility linked to a COVID positive staff member.
A woman in her 40s died at home in Southwest Sydney. She was a close contact of another confirmed case.
NSW Health extends its deepest sympathies to the families and friends of these patients.

Have close contacts been monitored for health?

This isn’t exactly the kind of age group you’d expect to die at home.

Is this acceptable? This is more common place in NSW but I thought this was a rarity in our outbreak last year. I’m sure it’s happened O/S but the publicised ones were with New York’s outbreak.

It’s amazing this is sort of a side show to ‘can you add more restrictions, etc’.
Not enough hard questions being asked.

Victorian premier Daniel Andrews says the Victorian government is working with the Northern Territory and Tasmanian governments to draft a vaccine passport system for national cabinet.

Andrews also defended the national vaccine targets, saying Victoria “had quite a bit to do with writing and drafting” the plan.

He dismissed criticism of the NSW government for signalling that it would ease some restrictions after it hits a target of 50% of the population having their first dose, saying the NSW premier Gladys Berejiklian was an “enthusiastic supporter” of the national plan.

“Every government has signed up to the national plan. Whether some restrictions can be eased in Sydney at a point in time, that’s a matter for the NSW government… rules can change at any time, that doesn’t mean that lockdown is over.”

FWIW I have heard that the ‘Green Pass’ as it is being called is tentatively scheduled to commence 22 November and will involve vaxed people being able to live with less restrictions including freer interstate travel, no need to STFAH etc.

My guess is it will take the numbers being higher than the peak of Victoria’s second wave (i.e. when they go over 700) for the media and public pressure to become high enough that action is taken. And that will be around 14 days time, which will be too late.

Will just by a side note.
Really tragic this is happening.

For me the Liverpool Hospital outbreak and dying at home is what has been the worst parts of the outbreak.
And I’m sure there is more to come.

I’m repeating myself, but thirty percent, even twenty percent of the state is an awful lot of people.
I wouldn’t want to be among them.
Maybe I’m being overly…something…

I have zero problem with people who decide to remain unvaccinated without medical excuse being part of the daily numbers.

She is saving us from our zero covid policy - ‘the gilded cage’ - which is holding us back from rejoining the world.

To be fair, I don’t think they intended it but the Croxton party got away from them and by the time they realised it it was too late to get a handle on it without imposing restrictions which are too politically unpalatable.
