COVID-19 Round 15 - welcome to Punxsutawney!

How do you visit a holiday home if you can’t travel more than 5k?

Do they have to open them up to anyone who willingly wishes to remain unvaccinated?

Just going over the exposure sites. Seems that the sick person was in that Brunswick apartment complex for a week. Pretty worried about what other exposure sites will come from that, as it seems like they haven’t left their apartment in that time (except maybe a chemist trip early). Fingers crossed that’s right and they haven’t seen anyone

im sure the 30% of vaccinated people are very keen to do these things. multiple times

There’s also the factor that the current version of 70 percent is really only 50-something percent. And opinions vary greatly amongst “experts” as to whether you can/should really open up at all at 70-percent and 1200 cases per day.

no idea even if this stuff is true? its from herald sun.

i presume the 5km would be removed for vaccinated?

my worry is that if they open to fully vaccinated at what point do they allow unvaccinated people? especially if more cases come later?

one thing is for sure, unvaccinated people will not be living as open a life as vaccinated people.

I’m sure they will. But diluting a business to 30% of its previous market isn’t a great carrot for a business to open its doors when it’s fixed costs remain the same

yeah i agree.

but remember the government reduced all business by about that much with the 1/4m rule.

Not really the same.

Very few businesses operate with 1 person per square meter. I don’t view the 1/4 rule as a great deviation from what was happening anyway.

And that is 1/4 at any one time. Not of the overall market.

true i thought about that after posting, i guess the 1/4m only really hurts businesses that require space and require a sitting element of service

like restaurants, cafes hairdressers etc

the businesses dont need to open and each week the businesses would get busier as we are 80 days from 80%?

dont even know if the herald sun is right with what they are saying

Heard there is a mutated strain of covid in Africa that Pfizer and AZ aren’t as effective and its more contagious than Delta

This would be the reopening plan to follow. Find a critical point where reopening (a business) becomes feasible and open just prior to that.

Atm it seems more a suggestion for if we follow the NSW model of gradual reopening as fully vaxxed numbers increase. Which i think we will. But right now, the numbers are just far too small to make a business case for.

Yeah the media have been running with that.

Also from NSW:

Just because you don’t “write it off” doesn’t mean it is resolved.

So these are the types of things we make sure we don’t let into the country in the first place.

the news papers do this.

scientists are unsure if new virus is more contagious - goes to - new more dangerous variant coming

scientists are unsure if vaccine slows covid - goes to - vaccines dont slow covid
