COVID-19 Round 16 - A Percentage of Lies

I don’t agree with this at all. But regardless, as much as I want to I’m not gonna start an epistemological discussion in the covid thread.

I think my overarching point with regard to this is that the failure of people to adequately understand science and the scientific method, is an indictment on our (and the globe’s) education system. Hell, look at the shitstorm that happen when the mask advice was reversed, and people seemed to think this was science proving itself wrong.

Mr Snooze on now with Ben and Jeroen, ABC TV 20

111 in hospital, 98% unvaxed, no- one who had been fully vaxed; 32 in ICU, 9 on ventilators.
1 case in Gladstone Aged Care.

From data published in the Age today. Highlights the disparity in NSW Pfizer allocations over and above the Polish extras.

Yep.

We came up with the best theory at the time. We kept monitoring. Things changed and we realised the first theory about masks was wrong. We came up with a new theory to fit what we now knew.

Science is messy. It makes mistakes in hindsight, but it’s about making the best call in the moment and then having the discipline to question yourself over time.

Tightening border permits for multiple entry, must have at least one dose

Do you know if those figures have included the extra 150k advanced in July?

63.2% First dose. Record dose day in state clinics.

81k bookings made yesterday.
7k AZ appointments available (down ~3-4k on yesterday).

2.7m dosed through State hubs, record bookings, still a lot of slots for AZ
Very high testing, but want more, extending opening hours of some in north metro
Showgrounds wait times yesterday less than 15 minutes.
Truck testing site at Orbost new, supplementing the ones on the Hume and at Nihill

This will drive a huge uptake in vaccinations.

good pointer to what we’re gonna be looking at when we get to 70% in late Oct.

~300 of today’s cases all in the North and West of the City. Remains the primary growth area for the outbreak.

20 cases in SE, two cases regionals ( one Shepp)
Most cases in N and W metro resources being thrown there…
No new cases Mildura, Bellarine, Latrobe being reviewed.
Aged Care case had been fully vaxed (staff)
Expect construction site cases to grow.

One third of exposure sites larger retail, one third small business, one third construction

the commonwealth wont direct vaccines to the north and west, its a labor stronghold.

The media fapping over nsw roadmap but it’s 100% clear they are still going to lockdown as required. They would lynch palashay if she said this. They would scream at her saying she must stick to the national plan.
Berejiklian is the most populist leader in the country. She spent the first 2 months of her fake lockdown apologising to everyone for doing what she lectured everyone else not to do for 2 years.
Now she is desperately trying to give a rushed date to pretend it’s all good

I’ve found amongst those I know there are two kinds that have stood out:

  • those who have an “all natural” outlook, who don’t have faith in medicine and want to put organic, natural stuff in their bodies (yeah, I know)

  • those who aren’t that educated (or bright), so see being privy to inside knowledge you don’t know as making them superior in some way. They’re “researching”, finding out stuff about stuff, although they have little academic acumen and actually make themselves appear even less smart to the rest of us

Vic presser mostly opinion free. Largely fact based, telling it how it is
Subsidising GPs to get them into the program?

  • have a modest program ,small model, hopeful that Commonwealth will come to the party and get more GPs delivering
  • GP part of Fed primary care

How to explain more GPs delivering in NSW

  • as explained by JJ Frewen yesterday. NSW GPs got more access to Pfizer.
