I reckon the ANNOUNCE was for postcodes rather than suburb names because they are trying to avoid laying opprobrium on the suburbs. Just a little less direct using postcodes.

James won’t speculate whether the roadmap will cover border measures, still working through Burnett modelling.

Now about the MCG, considering that Melbourne City among lowest vax rates

  • ( as noted on radio this morning , census figures, which include high proportion of International students, may not reflect current population)
  • James sticks to his guns, NW and W have priority, although journalists think they could at least open an AZ hub at MCG

She did go on to identify the burbs by name, after doing postcodes

I can’t tell you how good it feels to see the numbers in Sydney stabilising, some real hope after nearly 3 months of constant gloom is more than a relief. Hospitalisations have been holding firm for a week or so now, as well. Still a long way to go but at least we are not in a spiral with no end in sight. Things feel a lot better! No doubt we have some bumpy days ahead, but hopefully it won’t be months of gloom like we have had. Did I mention what a relief that is? :slightly_smiling_face:

If you want to see some inspiration, I suggest you take a look at Australian Story on iView - Dr Jamil Rifi has been doing the work of angels out Canterbury way, he really is a wonderful human.

Also, a great article in The Guardian:

I’m honestly hopeful that this is the peak. I want this to be over, same as all of us.
And I don’t want to be a Debbie Downer, but…I guess I’m just hopeful, but not comfortable, that less people are getting tested because less people actually have it.

Really hope Dr Rifi and his wife take that trip to the bush soon, they really deserve some time out for the work they’re doing.

The number of home deaths in the current outbreaks continues to surprise me. It probably shouldn’t. But it does.

Journalists getting stuck into Barr on unfairness for some
in his easing measures
Barr refers to least worse options in the pandemic, notes what NSW is doing in differentiations.
Journo upset that ACT locked down for a month, is it a fail of contact tracing and/or breaches.
Barr notes that Canberra is not an elite white collar community, has some issues similar to those faced in NSW and Victoria

  • mentions that if virus had been better controlled in NSW …

Only ACT vax mandate is Aged Care, proposals for gov mandatory vax here is a solution looking for a problem, no vax hesitancy in ACT

Getting some ‘no gay people in North Queensland’ vibes here.
That’s an incredible statement.

BARR GOES BANG ON JOURNO

states she should probably bother to read the national plan.

I didn’t think anyone was allowed to see the national plan…

It’s a more cohesive and better educated community.

‘No’ is a very small number indeed.
Well done them, I guess.

15 community cases in NZ.

Why exactly?
It was Burnett modelling that mapped our path out of lockdown last year.

Going off some of the modelers comments from the last couple days. (Saying how we’ll be in lockdown past xmas). I don’t believe we’ll be in that long, but worried regardless of a gradual af easing even post 70/80% etc.

They are extremely risk averse compared to Doherty.

The QR code at the testing centre I went too didn’t work for me either. I tried a few times but had to have it all done by the nurse on her iPad.
