Was more of an acquaintance (friend of a friend) so don’t have him on socials or even a phone number to give him a spray unfortunately.

Thank fark it wasn’t delta that ripped through us.

This is effectively a parallel outbreak of two diseases.

That sucks Mugsy. Doesn’t matter what one thinks about covid in the grand scheme of things, but the fact you will now have to isolate for days whilst you wait for a result is bad enough. What a ■■■■. Hope you stay well.

The queue to the Deakin Uni test site in Burwood was 1.6km long at 6:40am this morning.
I thought this might ease off this week, but it appears not.
And while slight atm, given the high infectiousness and the right conditions (say let it rip, undervaccinated poor countries) there’s always the chance of a combined super strain. Lovely innit

Worried that people who have had their first dose aren’t coming forward to get second jab despite being overdue. Imploring folk to get the second jabs up to 90% and then push on with boosters.
Apologises for long testing lineups and some clinics who were advertised as being open on the QLD Health website are closed and apologies to those who waited in line for it not to open

Some private clinics closed for holidays, others have staffing issues. Commonwealth has commandeered some to do testing at Aged Care residences.
Qld will be distributing its RAT purchases to test sites, but will take longer to arrive outside Brisbane. Some will be given kits to take home and self test.
CHO considers stats showing around 23% of tests are active cases and that daily numbers do not reflect cases out there.
What do you think their chances are of keeping Omicron out of the community? I think they had 90 cases in quarantine the other day? How long can they keep those sorts of numbers contained? HQ seemed to fail often enough with Delta. You’d need a pretty robust system for Omicron surely.
It’s probably what Dom Perrotet is using though.
And there has to be some modelling to ensure adequate investment.
What is not modelled is staff. But beds seems ok.
Again somewhere like Newcastle might be of a concern seeing there is quite an outbreak there. Sydney would be where the bulk of ICU beds.
The great wfh led regional migration must have made planning for ICU facilities a nightmare.
