Looks like they enforce if they REALLY wanted to.
The State of Emergency act gives the CMO very wide powers, including compulsion.
well then, get swabbing… every dirty stinking ■■■■. line em up.
I think I read the difficulty with compulsion is you need police with every tester. Not so easy, maybe they need to but it’s a challenge.
Pay em…we want them to get tested, pay them to be tested.
As much as it sickens me to see government funds going to these selfish ■■■■■■, money is the only way to sway these people. Their moralistic virtues quickly disappear when a $50 coles voucher is waived under their noses.
A small price to pay to get on top of this spike, the money will go back into our economy.
He’s a pretty rubbish dictator really. Wont even force people to take a swab.
Imagine how many coppers it’ll take to hold down some conscientious objector who is waving around 5G banners and spitting all over them… would be a nightmare.
Footage of people getting tasered so they can be tested. Especially with the BLM stuff going around, you would be hesitant to send cops in.
I understand the reason. But as you say, everyone else should be social distancing. The stuff ups happen, but being on top of your social distancing is one of the containment measures.
Complaining about how you have stuck to the rules, while not sticking to the rules is emblematic of the rest of society. We all see it every day. We’re just a little bit slack. Once schools were back and the footy was on, everything started to feel a bit more normal, and everyone let the 2m become 1m, and when they were with their extended family I have no doubt they went from sitting on opposite sides of the room to opposite sides of the table. And this just adds to the chance of spread if it’s there.
It’s in the SE at the moment, just in small numbers. But those numbers can increase quickly and silently if people don’t so the right thing.
(FFS, my sister is into me about talking my kids to see my mum. We’re not in the lockdown zone, but my son’s school was shut a week and a half ago, and my daughter works at a supermarket which would be frequented by those from the lockdown area, yet I’m still getting the guilt trip. FFS)
The security guards were probably thinking they were sticking to the rules while sharing a post coital ciggies.
You’d definitely be opening testers up to the potential of violence from the tester and families. You’d probably need multiple escorts and additional security. But the problem is if the security likes the look of the testee they may sneak out the back for a quickie.
Pay em.
Or hold back tax refunds / centrelink until tested
Mandatory test at schools if there has been a case there.
same with workplaces etc.
Pay them to be tested
Pay them to stay home
Pay pay pay
■■■■■■■ force them without remuneration. And if people have no sick leave then stiff ■■■■, maybe they shouldn’t have taken the good old Aussie sickie to turn the Cup day Tuesday into a long weekend or the Friday before long weekends to turn it into a long weekend
If only we had all purchased Pete Evans’ light machine we wouldn’t be in this mess.
There are a lot of articles about this virus and super spreaders. 2% of people are responsible for 20% of infections. But more and more, the research is showing that they are super spreading events rather than individuals with the right biology to spread the disease.
The main super spreaders appear to be young people at bars, restaurants and beaches, who don’t social distance or wear masks.
Until the least vulnerable people have a change of attitude, it may be very hard to control spread.
With all due respect, pay them to be tested? ■■■■ off.
Refuse a test and that person should be in a mandatory lockdown for 3 weeks in a lockdown hotel (with proper staff this time).
Refuse a test and the assumption is you’re infectious into lockdown you go.
Victoria has recorded 77 new cases of COVID-19 overnight bringing the total number of active cases to 415.
Of those new cases, 13 are linked to outbreaks, 37 were detected through routine testing and 27 are still under investigation.
Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton said there are now 332 total cases in Victoria with an unknown source.
Most people would probably agree with your sentiment, but it would be a whole lot cheaper to pay them than to pay the system that compels them to get tested. And much of what is paid to them would end up back in the economy, so it would be a very small cost compared to other options.
Oh sure. And then they just won’t take a day off, will go into work, and spread the virus to other people. Brilliant idea
